PIPELINE & CORROSION
It is common knowledge that corrosion has become a serious challenge in most
industrial sectors in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region. Over a decade ago,
STARC targeted this sector as one where it could provide significant value to the
industry by offering services and supplying products to address the increasing
complexity of this problem. Five years ago, STARC along with its partner Corrpro
Canada, established a manufacturing facility for cathodic protection materials. It is
now one of the leading suppliers of such material in Saudi Arabia and the region.
Corrpower, the joint venture between STARC and Corrpro, has recently been licensed
to offer corrosion control consultancy services in the Kingdom as well.

In the last ten years, STARC has developed and expanded its expertise in pipeline
solutions. It offers its clients a vast array of services and products within this sector
including pipeline repair using composite material and has installed thousands of such
units on numerous pipelines in Saudi Arabia.
It also provides its customer with specialty pipeline coatings for the sealing and corrosion
protection of pipeline joints and other substrates. It has also installed numerous
specialized connectors and seals on onshore and offshore pipelines.

By recognizing the challenges facing the oil and gas industry, STARC became a first
mover in selling non-metallic pipes to this industry. It now sells fiberglass reinforced
epoxy pipes to the sector. It has already supplied many kilometers of such pipe to Saudi
Aramco. Upstream, in much more challenging settings with high temperatures, high-
pressure and sour service operating environments, STARC is looking to supply high
performance carbon/polymer pipes.

Partners:
PROCESS TECHNOLOGY & CATALYSTS

STARC, along with its partner, sells process technology in petroleum hydro treating and hydro
conversion to the oil and gas sectors. STARC has been successful in selling such technologies
in numerous refineries in Saudi Arabia. STARC supplies the oil and gas sector with all different
types of catalysts, adsorbents and grading materials. It has supplied these products to most of
Saudi Arabias refineries, gas plants and some petrochemical facilities.
INSTRUMENTATION

STARC has developed an expertise in process systems, measurement technologies,

transportation and custody transfer of gases and liquids in the oil and gas industry. It also
supplies visual-based analyzer technology for oil in water, solid particles, foaming and high
temperature applications. In the power sector, STARC supplies liquid analyzers for various
applications including pH, conductivity, ozone, nitrate, sodium, silica amongst others.

STARC has served the fire & safety sector for many years. With products that range
from self-contained breathing apparatus to gas detection monitors and personal
protective equipment, customers are provided with high quality gear that can be relied
on in the field. In 2014 it established a service center in Al-Khobar to train clients on
the usage along with the maintenance of this equipment.
SPECIALIZED SERVICES
STARC analyzes niche markets where our clients require assistance or where services are lacking. We
then utilize our expertise and experience to identify the best solutions and best principals / partners to
work with in order satisfy the demands of our clients.

STARC is also looking at providing expert quality control for seismic surveys, site investigation, well
operations, positioning and infrastructure projects.

Consulting Services:

Over fifteen years ago STARC, along with its principals, started offering specialized consulting services
to the downstream oil and gas industry. Such services included profit improvement and optimization
studies, energy efficiency, process consulting, reliability and maintenance amongst many other services.
It has since worked in most of Saudi Arabias refineries, gas plants and chemical & petrochemical
facilities. It is now offering similar optimization consulting services to the upstream production fields.

STARC is also looking at providing expert quality control for seismic surveys, site investigation,
well operations, positioning and infrastructure projects.

basin in the world, undertaking projects ranging from niche specialist work to large
multi-disciplinary E&P studies.
SPECIALIZED SERVICES

Plant Maintenance:

STARC offers specialized plant maintenance services to the oil, gas and
petrochemical industries. It has developed a niche in decoking and inspection services
for furnaces and fired heaters. It intends to continue to expand such niche plant
maintenance services in the future.

Cokebusters specializes in the maintenance of furnace & fired heaters tubes. Pig
decoking, or pigging, of furnace process tubes removes hard hydrocarbon coke and
inorganic internal tube wall contamination.

A unique combined service is now offered to include acoustic Intelligent Pig internal
tube inspection, with associated corrosion advisory service.
SPECIALIZED SERVICES

Specialized Chemicals:
STARC is licensed to import and store all forms of industrial chemicals into the
Kingdom. It presently imports and stores specialty chemicals for the refining industry
for its JV partners and is planning to do so for third parties in the near future.

Service Center:
STARC presently has a service center for the repair and maintenance of the fire-
fighting and instrumentation equipment that it sells.
NEW INITIATIVES

STARC is always looking at new areas that complement its existing offerings. Some of
the new initiatives include:

Specialized Contracting & Field:

STARC is looking to complement its existing services by adding very specialized
contracting and field services.
