Mounting the Noise Dose Meter

With the instrument switched off, insert the lead connector of the microphone
(MM 0111) into the socket at the top end of the case. Make sure the red dot on the
connector is facing the front of the meter. Remove the connector by pulling on the
knurled sleeve. Do not twist or try to remove the connector by pulling on the cable.

1.5 Mounting the Noise Dose Meter

For measurement of personal noise dose, the microphone should be positioned ap-
proximately 10 cm from the ear (Fig.1.4). It can be attached to a workers collar, hat,
helmet, etc. The meter can then be secured in a breast pocket, to a belt or waist-
band.

Fig.1.4 The microphone can conveniently be clipped to a collar and the noise dose
meter inserted in a breast pocket

Chapter 2 Operation
Introduction

2.1 Introduction
All dose meter operations are performed by simple keystroke sequences as de-
scribed in this chapter.

2.2 Performing an Acoustic Calibration

Perform a field accuracy check each time the instrument is switched on. Use Sound
Level Calibrator Type 4231 and do the following:

1. Fit the microphone into Coupler DP 0952 supplied with the dose meter, making
sure it is pushed firmly into contact with the shoulder in the coupler cavity.

2. Fit the coupler (with the microphone attached) into Type 4231, pushing firmly to
ensure that it fits snugly.

Note: To aid removal, the coupler flange does not fit closely against the calibrator
housing.

3. Switch the calibrator on and follow the steps listed on the following page, once
the Start Up sequence of displays has finished.
