Long considered to be the preserve of engineers, the design of

major infrastructure works is now recognised to need the design
skills of architects and urban designers. Over recent years we
have worked closely with public authorities, design engineers and
contractors on major projects in New South Wales, Queensland,
the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory.

What we offer
Jackson Teece’s design philosophy is based on the interconnected
activities of research, collaboration and innovation. Our long-
standing experience in multi-disciplinary design well positions us
to understand the significance of varying contexts and specific
engineering, safety and maintenance issues together with budget
implications.

–– This enables us to deliver a robust solution that is:

–– A good fit with their physical and cultural contexts
–– ‘Best for Project’
–– Value for money
–– A positive contribution to the surrounding community
–– An interesting and safe user experience

We actively seek to collaborate and develop networks which

incorporate specific areas of expertise appropriate to each
individual project. The practice and our individual staff members
embrace collaboration, evolution and change.

Approach to design
Each project we undertake begins with the consideration of both 05
the essential and the potential.

The essential is constituted by our client’s brief, engineering and

maintenance requirements, the work programme and statutory
codes directing performance. Beyond the essential lie design
possibilities which are dictated by the physical and cultural context
and the specific design challenge.

The test of innovation is ’What is Best for Project’? A design

proposition gains strength and authenticity through its sensitivity
to place - both physical and cultural. All of our design ideas are
underpinned by place-making through the considerations of
climatic, social, cultural and environmental factors.

Jackson Teece uses sophisticated modelling technology which

enables us to ‘drive through’ and experience our designs. This
enables us to develop a highly-refined solution to all of the major
components of urban design.
