This period corresponds to the time constant for the discharge of the capacitors. The + and — terminals (or PA and PB on the 45 10 110 kW speed controllers) are also connected to the potential of the capacitors. During operation, the motor can be stopped by cancelling the run command or the speed reference, while the speed controller remains energized. untimely restarting needs to be prevented for personnel safety reasons, this electronic nteriockis inadequate, Provision must be made for the disconnection of the power circuit. NOTE, ‘The speed controller includes safety devicos which, in the event of a fault, can trigger the stopping of the controller, and hence: the motor. The motor itself can also be subjectto stoppage by mochanical jamming. Finally, votage fluctuations and power supoly failures in particular, can also cause the motor to stop, ‘The disappearance of the fault causing the stoppage can initiate a restart involving a hazard for certain types of machines or installations, especially those which must conform to specific safely regulations. {tis important that in such cases the user should take appropriate stops to prevent such restarting possiblities. For example, by the use of an underspeed detector, causing the disconnection of the speed controller power supply in the event of a non- programmed motor stoppage. ‘As ageneral rule, the speed controller power supply must always be switched off before carrying out any operation on either the slectrical or the mechanical parts of the installation or the machine. ¥ Power Drive Service Ltd. www.inverter.co.uk +44(1942) 260206 Contents GENERAL INFORMATION PRELIMINARY CHECKS. In that case, the supply must be maintained. Avoid using a line contactor which, when short supply failures occurs, needs tobe restarted manually, and replace the isolator-fuses-contactor group with a circuit breaker. WARNING: - Check the power connections before switching on. H, owing to a wiring error, mains voltage is applied to output terminals U/T1, VIT2, and W/3, the speed controller will be damaged. = Do not connect terminals OE1 and OE2 (NL) (see p. 21). = Avoid on-load switching between the speed controller output and the motor. “utlisation requirements necessitate the mounting of a contactor between the ‘speed controller and the motor, provide a special sequence (see p. 25). INTERMITTENT DUTY In order to avoid frequent operation ofthe line contactor through the use of push-buttons S1-S2, use the control inputs (terminals FW-RV) instead.
