AETERNA PROGRAMMING AND UPDATE IT01/10

The Aeterna Change Giver Coin Mechanism is a device able to recognize the coins and address them to 5 different accumulation
tubes. After a sale operation the Change Giver gives back any excess credit.

Versions available:
Aeterna is available in three versions: Executive, MDB and BDV according to the managed communication protocol and, as a
consequence, to the connecting harness towards the vending machine supplied. Furthermore, with the proper parallel interface it is
possible to install the Aeterna Executive coin mechanism in the electromechanical vending machines too (in this case without
managing an outside display).
The Executive version is equipped with an MDB bus where up to two peripherals can be connected at the same time: an MDB cashless
payment system and an MDB bill validator.

Accessories necessary for programming and update:

Personal Computer (IBM compatible PC with Pentium 2 microprocessor or above,
32 MB RAM recommended, 50 MB hard disk space. Microsoft Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/7
operating system with Internet Explorer rel. 5.5);

FIRMWARE UPDATE OF FLASH MICROPROCESSOR ON AETERNA BASE BOARD

Update by means of Personal Computer

Necessary accessories:
FlashManager software (which can be downloaded from the website
www.coges.eu );
Programming interface for Systems and Validators by PC (cod.844030).

Operations to be carried out:

Connect the Programming interface for Systems and Validators by PC (dip-
switch on Flash position) to the serial port of the PC and to the J4
connector of the Aeterna base board;
Power the Aeterna Change Giver and start the FlashManager program;
Select the file corresponding to the release that you intend to transfer to
the Change Giver;
Configure the serial port corresponding to the Microprocessor
programming mode and proceed by pressing the microprocessor icon;
Wait for the message Update ended successfully and then switch off the
Change Giver and disconnect the harness from it.
Check the firmware release on the programming menu (Diagnostics
item).

website and copied in the PC inside a folder. The
file used has got a .cse extension.

FIRMWARE UPDATE OF FLASH MICROPROCESSOR ON AETERNA BASE BOARD

Update by means of Maxi Programmer

Necessary accessories:
FlashManager software (which can be downloaded from the website
www.coges.eu );
Maxi Programmer (cod. 932244);
Maxi Programmer/PC programming harness (cod. 346460 supplied with
the programmer);
Harness between Maxi Programmer/PROFIT validator firmware
(cod.346533).

Maxi Programmer programming for Flash update of base board

(see on page 8)

Operations to be carried out:

Connect the Maxi Programmer/PROFIT validator firmware harness to
the Maxi Programmer and to the J4 connector of the Aeterna base
board;
Switch on the Maxi Programmer and place on the memory area called
FlashAeterna where the Flash release was programmed with
FlashManager;
Make sure that the change giver is powered, then by using the Start
key, make programming starts;
Wait for the message Programming ended successfully then switch
off the Change Giver, disconnect the harness and check that when the
Aeterna is switched on again, it performs correctly the restart cycle.

Operations to be carried out:

Connect the Programming interface for Systems and Validators by PC
(dip-switch on Flash position) to the serial port of the PC and to the J6
connector of the Validator/Separator group;
Power the Aeterna Change Giver and start the FlashManager program;
Select the file corresponding to the release that you intend to transfer to
the Validator/Separator group;
Configure the serial port corresponding to the Microprocessor
programming mode and proceed by pressing the microprocessor icon;
Wait for the message Update ended successfully, then switch off
the Change Giver, disconnect the interface from the validator and
check that when the Aeterna is switched on again it performs correctly
the restart cycle;

the Maxi Programmer and to the Validator/Separator group;
Switch on the Maxi Programmer and place on the memory area called
FlashReader where the Flash release was programmed with
FlashManager;
Make sure that the Validator/Separator group is powered, then by
using the Start key, make programming starts;
Wait for the message Programming ended successfully then switch
off the Change Giver, disconnect the validators harness and check
that when the PROFIT is switched on again, it performs correctly the
restart cycle.

UPDATE OF COIN DATABASE ON THE BASE BOARD

Update by means of Personal Computer

Necessary accessories:
EasyCoinProfit software (which can be downloaded from the website
www.coges.eu );
PC programming interface for Systems/Validators (cod.844030).

Operations to be carried out:

Connect the PC programming interface for Systems/Validators (dip-
switch on Parameter Programming position) to the serial port of the PC
and to the base board of the Aeterna Change Giver (connector J4);
Power the Aeterna and make the EasyCoinProfit software start;
By means of the Models key, choose the configuration you intend to
program (ex: 5c/10c/20c/50c/5c Euro);
Start programming by using the Programming key;
Wait for the message Programming ended successfully then switch
off the Change Giver, disconnect the harness from the board and check
that when the Aeterna is switched on again, it performs correctly the
restart cycle.

board;

Mod.AeternaProfit where the Coin database was programmed with
EasyCoinProfit;
Make sure that the change giver is powered, then by using the Start
key, make programming starts;
Wait for the message Programming ended successfully then switch
off the Change Giver, disconnect the harness and check that when the
Aeterna is switched on again, it performs correctly the restart cycle.

Flash programming;
Start the FlashManager software;
Select the file corresponding to the release that you intend to transfer to the Change Giver base board;
Configure the serial port corresponding to the Maxi Programmer programming mode and proceed by pressing the Maxi
Programmer icon;
Wait for the message Update ended successfully, then disconnect the Maxi Programmer.

Flash programming;
Start the FlashManager software;
Select the file corresponding to the release that you intend to transfer to the validator group;
Start programming by using the Programming key;
Wait for the message Update ended successfully, then disconnect the Maxi Programmer.

the Coin database programming;
Start the EasyCoinProfit software;
Select the configuration you intend to transfer to the Change Giver base board (ex: 5c/10c/20c/50c/5c Euro);
Start programming by using the Programming key;
Wait for the message Update ended successfully, then disconnect the Maxi Programmer.
