TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Why i decided to go for teaching?
Firstly teaching is a special calling, it not a job suited for everyone. I decided to go for teaching because i
want to pass my knowledge to learners and want to see then succeed in life, a leaner success is what
drive teachers to continue. If you are a teacher you learn something every day that is why a teacher is
called a lifelong learner. I believe that education is perhaps the most important function in our culture,
or for that matter any culture. I chose teaching because i want to shape a future generation. Aside from
teaching subject, being a teacher is about offering an education that helps young people develop into
well rounded citizens of their community. Being a teacher offers a sense of belonging and the
opportunity to be part of the community. I chose teaching because teachers offer their students
something very valuable. They witness to the fact that it can be done, the skills can be mastered,
techniques can be learned and that information can become a very real part of the student who seeks to
learn it

My teaching experience

My teaching practical started from the 18th of April ended on the 26th of May. At first I was
uncomfortable to speak in front of a large group, I was worried and nervous on how to behave
myself in front of the learners but as the teaching practice went by i found the work more and
more easygoing. One of my teaching strength that i discovered is to work techniques into the
classroom that promote learning and retention of the material and while i was teaching i
learned that the main role of a teacher is to farther the knowledge and understand every child
that is within the classroom, which can be very difficult at times. Although im not a teacher yet,
I have had many educational interactions with learners. The first class i taught gave challenges,
at first i did not know what to with them and for a moment i thought that maybe teaching was
not for me ,but my mentor told me that i must not give up so early and that i will get used to it
of which i eventually did. During my teaching practice i learned that a must be a lifelong
learner, a specialists in the subject and also a specialists in teaching and learning. I have
learned that the aim of teaching practice is to gain professional insight and practical experience
through observation, planning and practice under the guidance of an experienced teacher, gain
experience in the planning and teaching of lessons using a variety of of teaching strategies and
methods which must be differentiated to meet the individual need of learners in the classroom.
TECHNOLOGY AND TEACHING
The use of technology in teaching and learning
Technology so far has the power to transform teaching by ushering in a new model of
connected teaching. These model links teachers to their students and to professional content,
resources and systems to help them improve their own instruction and personalize learning.
Technology infuses classrooms with digital learning tools, such as computers and hand held
devices. Technology also improve the dynamics between teachers and students and often
leading to advanced learning. Technology has changed learning in a way that all needs of all
kinds of are met, like as educators we know the power of Howard Gardners theory of multiple
intelligence. Technology in teaching simplify lesson preparation, it goes without saying that the
introduction of new technology in school have had an impact on teaching. Technology can
enhance assessment by providing the school with the means to design flexible assessment
criteria that support a wide range of students skills and competences. Technology allows for
such flexibilities in learning that is enabling students to work in more collaborative manner. The
use of technology has improved students-teacher interaction because teachers remain in
constant touch with their learners. Because of technology, information is now in our palm of
our hands. Technology in the classroom allows teachers to deliver more personalized
information
CONCLUSION
I conclude by saying that teaching is all about teaching and learning because as teacher you are
also learning. According to me you are not a teacher if you do not display the following
characteristics such as a teacher is a subject specialists, as a teacher you must have knowledge
to the subject you are teaching. You must able to know and understand the child psychology. As
a teacher you must keep up to date with the modern technology because technology is
improving now and then. Teacher must inspire and encourage learners with passion.
Acknowledges the uniqueness of learners , one thing I learned about teaching is that as teacher
you must respect dignity, develop values, avoid humiliation, refrain from sexual harassment,
physical contacts or sexual relationship with learners and that as a teacher you must recognize
learners as partners in education. Above all that one of the most important thing is that one of
the most biggest challenges facing teacher education is to prepare teachers for diversity in a
school context which among other than things includes racial attitudes , and beliefs among
learners from diverse cultural and linguistic background.
