Holiday in my hometown

By: Muhammad Iqbal

Two weeks before eid mubarak, I got a college holiday for 2 weeks from 19 june
2017 until 2 july 2017. This is the first time I experienced the name of his own homecoming,
although the distance traveled from Denpasar to Singaraja was for 3 hours. When I arrived
home, I was greeted by family and food to break the fast because at that time I got home at
dusk. After kissing the hands of my parents, I went to my room. When I open the door, I
reflect on the condition of the room and also the memories of Ramadan in the previous year.
There are bad memories I ever experienced in the month of Ramadan in 2009 when I was
abducted during the streets in the afternoon. Because of that memory, I became very careful
with new people. At night, I also perform tarawih prayer in the mosque which is near the
house called al-ashri mosque. In addition to worship, I also met with friends who live around
the house as well as fellow teenage mosques. we get together and practice to prepare takbiran
night, the night before eid mubarak. The takbiran night in singaraja is celebrated with a
parade around the city. The parade starts and ends in the ex port of Buleleng. In the previous
year, I participated and played a musical instrument called dumbuk which is part of the
middle eastern music. But this year, I and my friends who are in college provides the
opportunity for our younger siblings who are still in school to participate in the event.
approaching eid mubarak, the house becomes more crowded. We and my family together
synergize the house and help my mother to make ketupat and other cookies. In the night
before eid mubarak, my friends and I went around to see a parade of each mosque featuring
groups to enliven the evening activities of takbiran. When we just started traveling, there was
a big fire in the village bugis not far from where the parade activities. But firefighters swiftly
come so soon the fire is finished, and we and other people who can enjoy the night parade
takbiran back.
When eid mubarak came, my family and I performed the prayers at al-ashri mosque.
After that, my brother and I both apologize to our parents for the mistakes we have done so
far. We went around to my relatives' house from my father, because my mother's relatives
were in the padang, west sumatera. Begin by coming to the house, shaking hands, chatting
with each other and eating cakes. The activity was carried out continuously until day 3 after
Idul Fitri holidays. My friends from high school also came to visit my house. Although the
friends who came not much, it was enough to make me happy because it can still gather
together. I also apologize to them for the mistakes I have made, even though I am sure they
must have forgiven me. In addition, I also contacted the people I knew through the line
application on mobile phones to keep in touch with each other, especially to my friends in the
bekasi and also to my ex-girlfriend. Although I have not met for a long time but I still try to
keep the communication to them well. In addition to eid mubarak related activities, I also
came to high school for just sports and gathered with a sister class to just ask about the
condition of the current school. In addition, I also gathered with my friends in high school
both at school and cafe. We still like to remember the memories when it was still a student
that is about teachers, classes, punishment, birthday school and many other things that we
remember more and more make us so want to go back there. A few days before I returned to
Denpasar, I gathered with my Muslim friends during high school to visit my religious teacher
during high school. I only have one religious teacher during my high school. My religious
teacher named Bu muthbi'ah. Mrs. Muth is very concerned about us for 3 years in high school
and always reminds us not to do bad things and that makes her already what we think of as
our mother at school. When we meet again, we are grateful that he still remembers us all.
This activity becomes my holiday closing activity because tomorrow I have to go back to
Denpasar to prepare the lecture which will start 3 july 2017. This holiday taught me how
important it is to spend time with family and friendship with the people we love, because we
will not necessarily be able to meet again in the coming year.
