About this Release

Oasis montaj 9.0 includes a new cleaner, simpler interface that makes it easier to use and customize. The new interface is designed to provide you with the tools you need, when you
need them. Use two or more monitors to increase your workspace area by dragging any window outside the application window to a second monitor.

Oasis montaj is now a 64-bit application which enables it to access all available memory on your system, providing more efficient processing, improved performance, and the ability to
create and work with much larger databases, voxels, and grids.

This release includes significant upgrades to the Oasis montaj extensions, including: Airborne Quality Control, Drillhole Plotting, Gravity and Terrain Correction, GM-SYS 3D, Induced
Polarization, UX-Analyze, and UXO Marine. We are also excited to announce UXO Land, a new extension for working with land-based UXO survey data.

How to update
With this release we've simplified the installation and licensing for Geosoft products. We have a new much smaller installer that only downloads and installs the products that you
need. You will no longer need to enter a licence key in order to activate Geosoft products. Instead, you just simply sign-in to your software with your Geosoft ID to access your
licensed software products and extensions. Watch this video for an overview of the new installation process and interface changes.

To update to Oasis montaj 9.0, click the Check for updates option in software or click the update button at the top of this page to download the installer and get started.

System Requirements
Oasis montaj 9.0 requires a 64-bit version of either Windows 10 (recommended), Windows 8.1, or Windows 7 SP1. See System Requirements for complete details.

Simpli ed Interface

New simpli ed interface

Oasis montaj and Target have a new cleaner, simpler interface that makes the software easier to use and customize.
We have maximized the usable screen space, removed unnecessary icons, and provided more flexibility on how you
use your workspace. The new interface is designed to provide you with the tools you need, when you need them.

The new interface changes include:

You can drag any window outside of the Oasis montaj or Target application window.
Database, Grid, and Map toolbars are now embedded at the top of their respective windows for easy access.

Toolbars now appear in context, and when required.

Map Manager is now attached to the map windows.
Project Explorer and Map Manager tools have been redesigned and include right-click menus for quickly creating and
opening files.

Multi-monitor support
You can now use two or more monitors to increase your screen workspace by dragging any window outside the

New menu manager

The new Manage Menus tool displays all your licensed software products and extensions. You can quickly
choose which extensions and menus to display and customize your workspace to suit your workflow.

Simpli ed licensing with Geosoft ID

We've moved to Geosoft ID licensing. Licence keys are no longer required. Simply sign in to your software with your
Geosoft ID to use all your licensed software products and extensions. Watch the Geosoft ID video and the Welcome to
My Geosoft video for more information.

Performance Improvements

64-bit applications
Oasis montaj and Target are now 64-bit applications. As 64-bit applications, they are now able to
access to all available memory on your system, providing more efficient processing,
improved performance, and the ability to create and work with much larger databases,
voxels, and grids.

Ease of Use

New ways to select database lines

You can now select database lines by specifying a name, a version, or using a wildcard character.

Work ow Improvements

Import multiple ASCII les

It is now easier to import a large number of survey files at once. If you have multiple ASCII files in the same
file format, you can now import all of them at the same time into an Oasis montaj database. This can save
you lots of time and avoids the need to create batch import scripts.

Line path plotting updates

The line path plotting tool adds some new upgrades:

Plot multiple line paths on your map more easily.

If a line path group already exists, you can choose whether to overwrite it or create an additional line path group.
The line path is now masked to the data view by default.

We've added new line styles to choose from when plotting the survey path.

3D Visualization

Updated 3D Graphics
We've updated our 3D graphics rendering to include Open GL support for video cards, which means
better transparency and lighting in your 3D models, and support for a broader range of
video cards. Updated software-based rendering provides an improved experience when
using remote desktop. See system requirements for details on supported graphics
cards.

Improved importing Esri LYR les into 3D

Esri LYR files store symbology information for SHP files as defined in ArcGIS. When importing an Esri LYR file with
elevation values, it is now displayed in full 3D instead of just simply being projected on to a plane.

Grid Display

New methods for gridding multiple channels

The Multiple Channel Gridding tool enables you to grid several channels at once, using the same gridding method and
parameters. We've added the Kriging and Inverse Distance Weighted gridding methods, which are useful when
working with multi-element geochemical data.

Oasis montaj Extensions

Use a DEM to shade your data grid

When displaying a data grid, you can now coordinate your survey data with the surface topography by
specifying a DEM grid, which is used as a surface for draping and shading the data grid.

Deposit response map improvement

The detectability image is draped over topography, making the calculated detectability response easier to
understand and interpret within the context of the topography.

Drillhole Plotting

Create sections in a 3D view

You now have the ability to quickly create sections or level plan maps from within the 3D viewer. This makes it easy to
quickly visualize and test different scenarios within the context of your exploration drillhole data.

Import drillholes in a single step

You can now import multiple tables of drillhole data from Excel or Access in a single step. The import tool

provides options to specify the import parameters for the different types of drillhole data (collar, survey,
from-to, or point data).

Plan deviated drillholes

The ability to plan drillholes with known deviation provides more accurate targeting. Using the 3D drillhole
planning tool, you can now incorporate known deviation information into your drillhole planning. Enter any
depth, dip or azimuth changes, and the results are displayed in a 3D view in real-time.

GM-SYS 3D

Draped surveys in GM-SYS 3D use GPU for calculations

When the appropriate video hardware is detected, GM-SYS 3D now uses your graphics card processor (GPU) to
perform calculations for draped surveys. These calculations can be completed more quickly with a GPU. While your
computer processor (CPU) may have multiple cores, graphics card processors (GPU) contain hundreds or thousands
of cores, enabling them to perform repetitive calculations in parallel very quickly and efficiently. See system
requirements for details on supported graphics cards.

Gravity and Terrain Correction

Moving platform gravity work ow

We've added a Moving Platform gravity workflow for processing shipborne gravity survey data. This new
workflow supports additional gravity and bathymetry imports, including MGS-6 and P1/90 formats and
includes updated survey path corrections.

Induced Polarization

New IP Quality Control tools

Ensure your data quality when working with 3D induced polarization (IP) data.

A new utility enables you to quickly identify and reject all the readings associated with faulty electrodes, so you are
able to easily remove these data points before further processing.

In addition, a new IP Plan map displays the transmitter and receiver locations on a plan map using different symbols for
each electrode, and indicates the rejected electrodes.

UX-Analyze

Create a map with background and survey locations

It is now easier to visualize the results of your survey work along with your background locations creating a
map that shows both the background and static survey/target locations. In addition, you can also display
which background locations have passed your quality control tests.

Improved background survey quality control metrics

We've added a background validation test and improved the quality control metrics to make it easier to review
your background survey data. This additional test helps ensure that your data is of sufficient quality for levelling.

Improved data structure and work ow

It is now easier to manage both your data and the results of your modelling throughout the classification process. A
new workflow organizes your data by type into three databases: survey data, target locations, and source locations.

The databases are all related using a common file name prefix, so you can easily select all of your databases, instead
of selecting each one individually.

New algorithms for modelling advanced EM data

We have implemented a new inversion algorithm developed by AcornSI for modelling electromagnetic (EM) data
that is faster and provides results that are better and easier to use. The new solver uses an n-dipole algorithm for
inverting the advanced electromagnetic data for the source location, polarization, and other parameters.

UXO Land

New UXO Land extension for Oasis montaj

UXO Land is a new extension for Oasis montaj that provides a complete suite of tools for working with
land-based UXO survey data. UXO Land combines the features previously available in UX-Detect and
UX-Process into a single workflow that takes you through all the steps from survey planning to target
identification. Quickly perform quality control and assurance (QA/QC), processing, visualization, target
picking, target prioritization, and target management. See all the features in UXO Land

UXO Marine

Calculate Analytical Signal directly from Vertical Gradient survey data

You can now process densely sampled vertical gradient survey data to easily pick target locations using the calculated
analytical signal. This is useful in systems where no total field magnetic measurements are
provided from the field equipment.

Improved batch modelling for magnetic data

Automated batch modelling is now significantly improved. You can now easily model targets even when using the
relatively sparse magnetic datasets commonly found in marine magnetic and gradiometer surveys.

The new modelling workflow also provides additional parameters for magnetic targets, such as magnetic moment, to
help you to better understand the nature of your targets.

Improved support for multiple marine sensors

When working with data from gradient sensor arrays, you can now specify any number of sensors and configurations
to suit your system.

You can save your custom sensor configurations as a file and use them throughout the workflow and in other projects.
This makes it much easier to process data from large gradient sensor arrays and reduces the potential for errors.

New path correction tools for lag and location offset

You now have new abilities to correct for location errors, in addition to the existing Navigation and Sensor Offset
corrections.

The Lag tool enables you to adjust the survey data forward or backward along the line, correcting for potential time
delays or lags.
The Location Offset tool is similar to the Sensor Offset but allows you to to define the offset based on distance and
direction relative to the survey line rather than coordinates.

Pick accurate targets interactively

It is now easier for you to interactively pick accurate target peak locations from the database profile
window. When picking targets, the Add Target tool now automatically finds the closest peak to the selected
location along the profile line.

Rotated maps
Now when you create a map, you can rotate the data view in any direction on the map so that north is not necessarily
at the top of the page. This enables you to find the best fit for your data to the page or screen. It is also useful for
creating maps that have the map boundary parallel to the survey direction or to maximize the coverage of the map for
long narrow surveys. For some maps, rotating the data view has the added benefit of speeding up processing and
making the map display much faster.
