(30 pts) Problem 1. A 22-mm diameter bolt having a diameter at the root of the
threads of 18 mm is used to fasten two timbers together. The nut is tightened
to cause a tensile stress of 98 MPa in the bolt. The allowable stressing stress
of wood is 8 MPa. Determine (10 points)a. Tensile force in the bolt, (10 points)
b. Shearing stress in the threads, (10 points) c. The outside diameter of the
washers if their inside diameter is 30 mm. See Fig. 1
(30 pts) Problem 2. The rigid, horizontal slab is attached to two identical
copper rods. There is a gap = 0.18 mm between the middle bar, which is made
of aluminum, and the slab. If the mass of the slab is 50 kilograms, calculate
the stress in each rod when the temperature in the assembly is increased by
450C. See Fig.2
