1.2 Installation
1.2.1 How do I open the battery cover?
Use your left hand to hold the phone at one end, and use your right index finger to open a gap
between the back cover and phone in the groove at the opposite end.
1.2.2 How do I install a USIM or SIM card, microSD card, and the
battery?
To install a USIM or SIM card:

The status bar is on the top, and you can drag it down to open the notification panel.
The dock at the bottom contains four applications that do not change as you swipe
between home screens.
The center section of the home screen displays all applications and widgets. You can
swipe left or right to switch between home screens.
On a home screen, touch the Menu key or touch and hold any blank space to display the
Set home screen dialog box. Touch Thumbnails to display the thumbnails of home
screens. You can then touch the desired home screen to access it.
1.5 Widgets
On a home screen, touch the Menu key or touch and hold any blank space to display the Set
home screen dialog box. Touch Widgets to display the widget selection screen.
To add a widget to a home screen, touch and hold the widget and drag it to the home screen.
The widget selection screen contains three tabs: ALL, DOWNLOADED, and . The
ALL tab displays all widgets, and the DOWNLOADED tab displays the widgets of the
currently installed applications. To find a widget, touch and enter the widget name.
The following figure shows the icons that may appear in the status bar and their meanings.
1.7 Messaging
1.7.1 What is the difference between text messages in an Android
OS and those in a traditional OS? What is the advantage of text
messages in the Android OS?
Difference: In a traditional operating system (OS), text messages are stored in your inbox and
sent box. In an Android OS, text messages to or from a contact are stored in a thread.
Advantage: Messaging in an Android OS is similar to instant messaging services such as
MSN, which helps you to follow the conversation more easily.
If Delete old messages is selected, your phone stores a maximum of 500 text messages per
conversation by default. You can change this upper limit.
From File Manager, touch and hold an audio file to display an option menu. To set the audio
file as the ringtone for incoming calls, touch Set as > Phone ringtone. To set the audio file as
the message tone, touch Set as > Notification ringtone.
Alternatively, you can open Music, select an audio file and touch the Menu key. From the
displayed menu, choose Set as ringtone.
NOTE
The actual specifications are determined by customer requirements.

No preinstalled applications are available to check your total call duration, but you can
download a third-party application as required.
When you have multiple ongoing calls, touch to switch between them.

Yes, you can copy multiple contacts from the phone to the USIM card at a time.
1.10 Music
1.10.1 When playing music or video clips, does the media player
support functions such as fast-forward, rewind, pause, and
repeat?

Play in order (by default): Play all audio files in a playlist in sequence and stop playing after
all the files have been played.
Shuffle: Play all audio files in the playlist in a random order and stop playing after all the files
have been played.
Repeat list: Play all audio files in a playlist in sequence and repeat the playlist in sequence
after all the files have been played.
1.11 Camera
1.11.1 Where are my photos and video clips saved? Can I change
the path?
If a microSD card is available, touch File Manager > SD card > DCIM > Camera to
find your photos and videos.
If no microSD card is available, touch File Manager > Internal > DCIM > Camera to
find your photos and videos.
To change the default saving path, touch Camera, drag down, touch then Preferred
save location.
1.11.3 How many cameras does the phone come with? What are
the specifications for the cameras? Do they support autofocus?
The phone comes with two cameras: a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front
camera. Both cameras support autofocus but not zoom.
After the call is ended, the phone resumes playing the streaming media.
1.13 Bluetooth
1.13.1 My phone cannot be discovered by other devices. Why?
What can I do?
Bluetooth has been turned off.
To solve this problem, touch Settings > All and turn on Bluetooth.
NOTE
To listen to music, you must use a stereo Bluetooth headset.
1.14 Email
1.14.1 How do I add an email account?
To add an email account, touch Email, select an email service provider, and log in to your
account. You can set up your account manually or automatically.
Manual Setup
To set up your account manually:
Step 1 On the Account setup screen, enter your email address and password and touch Manual
setup.
Step 2 Select an account type.
Step 3 Configure the incoming and outgoing server settings and touch Next.
Step 4 On the Account settings screen, set Inbox checking frequency and touch Next.
Step 5 Enter the name you want people see when they receive your emails, set your account name,
and then touch Next.

You can only set up your email account automatically for certain email service providers for which
settings are preconfigured on your phone.

2 Common Settings
If the installation fails and a yellow exclamation mark is displayed nearby the ADB driver, do
the following to reinstall the driver:

2.4 Wi-Fi
2.4.1 How do I use my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot and access the
Internet?
You can use your phone as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot and share your phone's mobile data
connection with another device, allowing you to access the Internet from it.
To use your phone as a hotspot, touch Settings > All > More > Tethering & portable
hotspot > Portable Wi-Fi hotspot. Touch Configure Wi-Fi hotspot to name the Wi-Fi
hotspot, set a password, and select an authentication mode.
After the device finds your phone using Wi-Fi, you can access the Internet from the device
using your phone's mobile data connection.
The websites that the Wi-Fi hotspot can access are restricted.
Your phone is faulty.
2.6.3 I installed a new text input method but cannot use it. Why?
After installing an input method, you must select the input method: Touch the Menu key then
Settings > All > Language & input. Select the newly installed input method.
2.7.3 How many times can I try the screen unlock pattern before
my phone becomes locked?
The phone will be locked for 30 seconds if you incorrectly draw the screen unlock pattern five
consecutive times.
To unlock the screen, press the Power button to light up the screen and drag down.
Your phone also supports facial recognition technology. To enable the face unlock function,
touch Settings > All > Security > Screen lock > Face Unlock.
2.8 Ebooks
2.8.1 What ebook formats does my phone support? What is the
maximum size of an ebook to be read on the phone?
Your phone supports ebooks in .txt format without a limit on their size.
Step 4 Double-click the DownloadActiveSync shortcut. After you have connected to the website,
follow the instructions to download the ActiveSync software. Then install and run
ActiveSync.
Step 5 After a driver is installed, on your phone, touch Settings > All > More > Tethering &
portable hotspot and select USB tethering.

and install ActiveSync.

To change the wallpaper, touch the Menu key then Wallpapers and select Wallpapers,
Live Wallpaper, or Gallery.

4.5.6 Does my phone come with a tilt sensor? How do I use it?
Yes. The phone has a tilt sensor for entertainment purposes. If the tilt sensor is enabled, your
phone automatically changes its screen orientation when you turn it sideways. This enables
you to watch video clips on your phone in landscape mode or play tilt sensor-based games. To
enable the tilt sensor, touch Settings > All > Display and select Auto-rotate screen.
