DIEGO (9, Nicaragua): I ve always wanted to go to school but my parents work all

Dear friend,

My name is Bianca and I am from Nicaragua, a small South American country. I love my country
because its green and full of live but there are a lot of problems, too. Life is hard in Nicaragua. What
about your country?

We are 10 people in my family: my parents (Lena and Joshua), and my sisters: Erika (2), Salma (4),
Elena (11) and my brothers: Toni (8), Diego (10), Alejandro (14) and me, Bianca and I am 13 years
old. I am the older girl, so I have to take care of all my brothers or sisters. We live in a small house
now, but we have lived in the forest in a hut for many years. I dont go to school but I would like to
go. I get up at 5 every day and I take my little brothers and sisters to school. We have one hour on
food. Then, I come back home and I prepare the lunch and tidy the house. My brother, Alejandro, is
working in the fields with my father and my mother is working in a factory. I have to take care of my
sisters and brothers all day.
