Civil Engineering Departments Policy to improve Board Examination

Performance

1. Screening.

Aside from the University Entrance Examination, the

Department requires the applicant to take an Aptitude Test.
The Aptitude Test enables the Department to weigh the
students Mathematical, Critical Thinking Skills, Analytical
Skills, Judgment and Decision making Skills and Complex
problem solving skills as the exam covers Mathematics and
Science problems.

Must pass the interview conducted by the admission officer.

2. The Department of Civil Engineering participates at annual

Comprehensive Examination and Engineering Qualifying
Examination for incoming 2nd and 3rd year Students. The objective of
the Examination is to evaluate the syllabus for Mathematics,
Physical Science and English subjects, to assess the comprehension
level of Engineering Students in Math, Physical Science and
Technical English and to determine the performance of the students
in relation to the subjects in Math, Physical Science and Technical
English.

3. The Department conducts centralized Departmental Examination of

the Major Subjects before the semester ends covering the whole
syllabus.

4. The Department conducts Comprehensive and Specialization

Examination for incoming Fourth Year Students. The Examination
result will determine the comprehension of the incoming student to
the following subjects:

Mathematics (From Algebra to Advance Engineering Math)

Statics of Rigid Bodies
Dynamics of Rigid Bodies
Mechanics of Deformable Bodies
Construction Estimating
Construction Methods and Equipment
Safety Engineering and Management

The result will also be the determinant (with the grade

evaluation) on to the students specialization (Structural,
Construction Engineering and Management, Transportation)

5. The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering latest curriculum

includes an Integrative Course (Subject). The course helps students
to recall/review concepts and formulas about engineering
mathematics, general engineering, applied sciences and major civil
engineering subjects except design subjects. The focus of this
course is based on the board exam coverage. This helps students to
prepare for the board examination. Students are expected to master
solving on different problems involving the application of
engineering mathematics, general engineering, applied sciences
and major civil engineering subjects except design subjects.
