Aiken County Tea Party

Charter

Mission Statement

We, the Aiken County Tea Party (ACTP), are a gathering of ordinary American
citizens from Aiken County, South Carolina, who promote representation that
follows the founding principles of our nation as a free people. Our Mission is to
attract, educate, organize, and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with
our three core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government, and Free
Markets.

Article I – Membership
1.1 Membership in the ACTP is composed of voters of Aiken County, South
Carolina who have confirmed in writing or via electronic registration that
they have read and support the Mission Statement of the ACTP.

1.2 Members shall have the right to attend and speak at meetings; make
motions from the floor; stand for any elected position; be considered for any
non-elected position; participate in any vote brought before the membership
at large; and override any action taken by the Chairman or Executive
Committee with a ¾ majority vote.

Article II – Executive Committee


2.1 The Executive Committee shall be comprised of a Chairman, First Vice
Chairman, Second Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director of
Internet Affairs.

2.2 No person shall serve as a Member of the Executive Committee who is


seeking or holding an elected government office.

2.3 The Executive Committee shall have the power to expand the duties of
any office therein, in order to achieve the functions of the organization.

Article III - Officers

3.1 The Chairman shall be the spokesperson of the organization and shall
call and conduct all meetings.

3.2 The First Vice Chairman shall act as Chairman in the absence of the
Chairman and shall assume that office should it become vacant.
3.3 The Second Vice Chairman shall act as advisor to the Chairman and shall
be responsible for committee assignments and oversight.

3.4 The Secretary shall keep records of membership, attendance, and


minutes of all regular and special meetings; distribute meeting agendas; and
handle all correspondence.

3.5 The Treasurer shall account for all funds on behalf of the ACTP and be
responsible for disbursement of funds required to achieve the functions of
the organization at the direction of the Executive Committee. Any
disbursement of funds shall require signatures of the Treasurer and
Chairman.

3.6 The Director of Internet Affairs shall manage and maintain the presence
of the ACTP on the Internet at the direction of the Executive Committee.

3.7 Committees shall be established and dissolved at the discretion of the


Executive Committee.

Article IV – Meetings

4.1 Motions and amendments shall be passed and approved by a simple


majority of members present.

4.2 All meetings shall consist of, but not limited to, the following:
1. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance
2. Reading of the minutes - Secretary
3. Treasurer’s Report
4. Old Business
5. Committee Reports
6. New Business
7. Adjournment

Article V – Ratification

5.1 This charter shall take effect immediately upon passage by a majority of
members present.
