Understanding of fundamentals and broad perspectives on
enzymes that can be utilized to produce a number of value-
added materials

Mode of class
Lecture: Monday (15:00-16:50) and Wednesday (15:00-15:50)
Lecture in English type A (basically, 100% English)

Grading
Midterm exam + final exam + attendance (40/50/10)
Absolute evaluation will be considered

Examination
Questions for examination will be prepared in English
Many types of questions will be used
Multiple choices, true or false, description, calculation, derivation, etc.

1. Description
There are three chemical reaction mechanisms frequently observed in
enzymatic reactions, nucleophilic substitution, cleavage and oxidation-
reduction. Describe the three chemical mechanisms.

2. Calculation
The following reaction is the initial step of glycolysis in yeast.
ATP + glucose ADP + fructose-6-phosphate
Calculate the G0 (kJ/mol) value for the above reaction with data from the
table of standard free energy changes of some chemical reactions.
