1Thes 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be
preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Thes 5:23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul
and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Thes 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and
body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
[Your whole spirit and soul and body] Some think that the apostle alludes to the Pythagorean and Platonic
doctrine, which was acknowledged among the Thessalonians. I should rather believe that he refers simply to
the fact, that the creature called man is a compound being, consisting,
1. Of a body, sooma (grk 4983), an organized system, formed by the creative energy of God out of the dust of
the earth; composed of bones, muscles, and nerves; of arteries, veins, and a variety of other vessels, in which
the blood and other fluids circulate.
2. Of a soul, psuchee (grk 5590), which is the seat of the different affections and passions, such as love,
hatred, anger, etc., with sensations, appetites, and propensities of different kinds.
3. Of spirit, pneuma (grk 4151), the immortal principle, the source of life to the body and soul, without which the
animal functions cannot be performed, how perfect soever the bodily organs may be; and which alone
possesses the faculty of intelligence, understanding, thinking, and reasoning, and produces the faculty of
speech wherever it resides, if accident have not impaired the organs of speech.
The apostle prays that this compound being, in all its parts, powers, and faculties, which he terms holokleeron
(grk 3648), their whole, comprehending all parts, everything that constitutes man and manhood, may be
sanctified and preserved blameless until the coming of Christ; hence, we learn, (from Adam Clarke
Commentary)
As I sat with my wife in a Restaurant today, I took her hand and said to her. You and I are One, YOU ALONE,
OR I ALONE, ARE NOT COMPLETE BUT, TOGETHER WE ARE ONE AND COMPLETE.
"The glory which you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them
and You in Me, (I in them and you in me, that they may GROW COMPLETE INTO ONE, Ph.) that they may be
perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.
"Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My
glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. "O righteous Father,
although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; and I
have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may
be in them, and I in them."
Now, if, ye, are of Christ, by consequence ye are, Abraham's seed, according to promise, heirs." -Galatians
3:28, 29, Roth.
Gal 3:16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, "And to seeds," as
{referring} to many, but {rather} to one, "And to your seed," that is, Christ.
1 Cor 12:12, 27 - For even as the body is one and {yet} has many members, and all the members of the body,
though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. 27] Now you are Christ's body, and individually
members of it.
Rom 12:5 - so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
There is only ONE and Christ is the ONE. Christ Jesus is the Head and we are the body. We are ONE in
Christ: Christ is ONE in us. We constitute "the Christ." The Christ is ONE.
1 Cor 6:17 - But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit {with Him.}
I have preached and taught many years now that we are a tri-part being.
If Christ is in my spirit then my spirit is whole, if Christ is in my soul then my soul is whole, if Christ is in my
body then my body is whole.
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is
one Lord:" (Mark. 12:29) There is only the One who is the Creative Principle of the universe - Father God -
expressing and manifesting Himself as the visible creation.
Isa 45:21-22 21] "Declare and set forth {your case;} indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced
this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides me,
a righteous God and a Savior; there is none except me. 22] "Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the
earth; for I am God, and there is no other."
"I" is the LORD, and we must look to "Me" and be saved. The "Me" and the "I" is Christ. Christ Jesus was the
manifestation of the God and Savior who has declared Himself all through the Bible. And this Great God and
Savior is within us as the Reality of our Being. "...'Surely God is in you, And there is no other; There is no other
God.'" - Isaiah 45:14
We are so perfectly in union with God that we are ONE SPIRIT. We are in Christ, Christ is in us, the Father is
in Christ; all perfected into One. "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one." - John
17:23. If anyone is in Christ he is a New Creation... the old has ceased to exist.
I CAN SEE WHAT HAS BEEN MY PROBLEM FOR YEARS NOW, I HAVE SEPARATED MYSELF INTO
THREE PARTS AND AM CONSTANTLY TRYING TO FIX ONE PART AT THE EXPENSE OF ANOTHER.
I pray, meditate, worship from my spirit, while thinking on the cares of life with my soul, and meanwhile my
body is trying to pull me down to the dust realm.
I have resolved to change my thinking and put on the MIND OF CHRIST AND BE ONE IN HIM.
1Thes 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be
preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
