StudySync
StudySync is an online Learning Management
Platform that empowers learners to be active in
the program through various modules and
opportunities for reflection in the Think section.
StudySync also integrates with Google Docs.
StudySync is a safe and secure program for
students. They sign up through a teacher code. No
passwords or profiles are used. Students are
taught to be positive and respectful during their
Peer Review modules. StudySync TV models
student examples of student discussions.
StudySyncs thematic units allow students to build
knowledge and explore real-world issues through
fiction and informational texts. During the
research component, students will curate relevant
resources through the StudySync Library to make
meaningful connections.
Through group research or crowdsourcing
projects, students generate ideas and solve
problems.
Blasts are quick reading and writing assignments
based on current events. Students respond to the
prompt in 140 characters or less.
StudySync provides opportunities for students to
express themselves through group discussions,
research presentations, and peer reviews.

Paradigm for ELLs
Foundational Skills
Students learn by building their understanding of
foundational content, phonics, vocabulary,
language structures, comprehension skills, and
technology.
Academic Discussions
Students acquire academic language skills
through frequent interactions in real world
discussions that enable them to use content
vocabulary and language structures.
Background Knowledge
Students learn new content by using their existing
knowledge, academic competencies, and prior
experiences.
Resources
Students learn by using scaffolds and strategies
that lower the language complexity of the content.
Individualized Assessment
Students learn through instruction that is
informed by formative and summative
assessments. Most useful if they are in the
students dominant language and/or at the
students level of proficiency.
Culture
Students learn in school environments that value
the richness of diverse perspectives and cultivate
cross-cultural knowledge and awareness.

StudySync
StudySync provides additional support through its
Foundation Skills Handbook located under
Additional Resources. Using the online program
teaches student the skills of navigating technology
typing, highlighting, and drag and drop skills.
StudySync helps ELLs develop speaking and
listening skills through its Your Turn module and
StudySync TV, which shows students modeling
how to conduct small group discussions.

StudySync offers supplemental handbooks to aid
teachers in helping students develop their
academic vocabulary and language transfer skills.
All StudySync ELA thematic Unit lesson plans are
scaffolded for ELLs. Access Path PDF handouts are
available in 4 different levels. Blasts can be read at
3 different Lexile Levels.
The Access Handouts are used for ongoing
monitoring of students work. StudySync has first
readings and close readings of all texts giving
students the opportunity to develop proficiency.
Formative and Summative assessments are
customizable to accommodate ELLs capabilities.
eAssessments offer 6 different language choices.
Each of StudySyncs Core ELA units has a global
theme, such as Facing Challenges. Fiction and
informational texts encompass a variety of genres,
time periods, and cultures.
