Good afternoon everyone, i am Priteh kumar singh.

I will be telling about the

design of the valvless micropump.
This is a 2D model of the micropump- cross section through the mid point of the
channel.It consist of a horizontal
channel of 600um and a vertical channel connnecting at its mid point.

To calculate the volume of the fluid pumped as a function of time an out of plane
thickness of 10um is used.

Two tilted flaps are attached to the bottom of the channel to obstruct the flow of
fluid. they are spaced to
be central on the midpoint of the channel length-this distance is X0- here we have
taken 150um. They are angled at beta
degres to the horizontal-here it is 45deg

The apex of the tilted flaps is coonected to a vertical line which goes to the top
of the horizontal channel. They aid in
meshing as the structure deforms.

Linerar elastic material feature is applied to the two tilted flaps.

Prescribed Mesh Displacement features are applied to the guidelines which helps the
moving mesh which is
automatically recalculated as the structure deforms, to maintain a reasonable
structure around the bending flaps apexes.
Configured to be tightest around the tilted flaps

Fluid-solid interface boundary feature is automatically assigned to the boundaries

between flaps and the fluid in the channel.

Inlet flow is from the top using a sinusoidally varying time peroid of 1s. Hence
intel boundary feature is applied to the
top of the chamber. Outlet boundary feature is applied to the left and right
outlets respectevely.

Horizontal component of the fluid velocity is multi[lied by the cross section area
to get volume of the fluid.

study is performed over a period of 2 seconds, which corresponds to two full

oscillations of inlet velocity.

This model has a reynolds no 16 but the pumping action occurs even for reynolds no
less than 1

We have a reservoir on the left and a piezoelectric actuator on the top to create
pressure difference so the fluid will
flow to and from the the top. Fluid moves from left to the top in the 1st half of
the cycle and from top to right in the
next half of the cycle.

First model environment is set up.

model wizard is 2D.
Fluid flow - fluid structure interaction is used.
and study is time dependent.
i have defined all the parameters on which the flow depends. These parameters were
latter varied to find the optimum value for max discharge.
model is drawn as horizontal and verticle chamber as a rectangle.

A smooth mesh is generated.

more on the flaps. Linear elastic material is applied to the flaps and.
inlet on top and inlet velocity is given.prescribed mesh displacement-traingular

density for this fuluid is taken as 1000kg/m^3.

we went for parametric solution to vary differnt parameters and find optimum value
