Control and Dribbling

Warm Up

Have 2 boxes going at the same time 2 players in each corner 1 Player plays a
lofted diagonal pass to the player in the opposite corner who controls and dribbles to
the start Follow your pass.

While moving without the ball across the area, the players might do dynamic
movements while in possession the player must drive using both feet.

Slowly build up the warm up to a good tempo making sure all players are moving
correctly.

Drill

Working with 2 groups 2 short passes played before a lofted diagonal pass to 1
side the player must control the pass and drive through the cones back to the start
the sequence re-starts down the other side.

The players must give angles to receive the ball Insure a good tempo throughout
the practice.

The back players might become defenders to apply pressure to the players receiving
the ball this will encourage a better touch.

Drill 2

The first player passes the ball up to the striker who controls to lay off for the
defender to play to the wide midfielder. The wide player takes on the mannequin and
crosses for strikers. The players all move up 1 place and play continues down the
other side ensuring to rotate the strikers down each side.

There needs to be a good tempo to the practice Good quality pass to the striker is a
must. Always coaching the players touch and ability to drive towards goal.

Make good angles to receive the ball at all stations, Good weight of pass, Be positive
when moving towards goal.

Game Related Practice

Wingers Game 4v4 in the middle Winger and defender in each channel 1 GK in
each goal, the goal keeper must roll the ball to the defender to re-start the game.

Both teams compete for possession of the football. Teams must attempt to score past
the opposition goalkeepers. Two goals are awarded for goals that come from crosses
from the channel players. Players can be limited in the middle section and channel
players have no restriction. Channel players encouraged to be positive in the channel
before crossing the ball

Progressions: Begin with passive defending in channel progress to having to beat the
opponent
One touch finishing
All attempts must come from crosses

Coaching points Be positive, drive at pace, quality of crosses, timing of runs

Condition Game

8 v 8 Game-All players must take a minimum of 2 touches Always encouraging


the players to drive at the opponents. Gk are asked to roll the ball out from the back
to start the attack.
