CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction

This chapter discuss about the main outline for the industrial training. The next
section, 1.2 introduce in more depth about the industrial training itself followed by section
1.3 that state all the objectives in this program. Section 1.4 and 1.5 detailed about the profile
for the organizations supervisor and also the students profile respectively.

1.2 Introduction to Industrial Training

Based on the policy of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), all students from
Bachelor of Computer Science (Network and Computer Security) are obligated to undergo
an internship in an organization or company for 20 weeks in the 7th education semester. In
order to let the students to be exposed to the real work environment, they were suggested
to choose the organization that related to their field of study.

As mention earlier, the exposure towards an actual working atmosphere is one of


the main aim for this industrial training. This program also aiming to improve students
knowledge and skills regarding their profession in order to produce proficient graduates.
The students can learn a lot of new things and gain valuable experience during this time.
1.3 Objectives of Industrial Training

Industrial training is one of the main requirement needed for the UTM students to
graduate in their study. Therefore, there are a few objectives for this program to be known
by the students:

i. To expose the real work environment and atmosphere to the students based on
their field of study.
ii. To enable the students to practice all their knowledge that have been learned
during their study in university.
iii. To test the understanding and decision-making during real time problem-
solving.
iv. To develop a better communication and interaction skill.
v. To let the students to gain valuable experience that help them in the future.
vi. To enhance the discipline of the students in following the company rules and
regulations.
vii. To create a strong relationship between the university and the organization.
