The voice of the modernist poetry, poet, journalist and diplomat. He was born in 1875.

The
poet of America was considered, for its big personality and for the pretension to rival with
Rubn Daro, although he was lacking the poetical depth of this one. It worked like
journalist and got out of debt like diplomat in countries of America and in Spain. In 1912 it
took part of the revolutionary movement in Mexico; in 1919 he collaborated in Guatemala
with the dictator Manuel Estrada Cabrera. In 1922 it was dedicated in Lima by its poetical
work. Its texts differ in the picturesqueness and the exaltation of the nature and of the
exotic thing. Its two most representative works are Alma Amrica (1906) and golden First
fruits of the Indies (1934). In 1925 it was judged, and it absolved, for killing a writer who had
criticized it. In a trip to Chile he died murdered by a mental patient
