Classroom Environment

This action research was conducted at Oquendo National High Scholl, Main
Campus, OquendoPoblacion, Oquendo District, Calbayog City. The school is reached
by passing through the Oquendo cemetery. The school is composed of several one-
storey concrete buildings with 22 classrooms and the two of it was donated by the ABS-
CBN, and there is an on-going construction of two-storey building. For Grade 7, there
are six (6) classrooms being allocated which are located at the left side of the
connected one-storey building from the gate.

The selected respondent of this research were the Grade 7- Brace class under
the advisory of Mrs. Marian F. Brace. The Grade 7-Brace class is located on the third
room from the leftmost room beside the Food Technology Laboratory and Garment
Technology Room.
The room is a concrete building and a very conducive one for learning. It is well-
ventilated with two wall fans placed both sides of the room and well-lighted with two
fluorescent lamp. It has complete classroom structures and classroom facilities like
chairs, tables,cleaning materials and it has even its own comfort room located beside
the bulletin board and advisers table. The room has bookshelves. The bulletin board is
located beside the mirror and the main door of the room. The class bulletin consists of
Class Profiles, Top Students, Best in Subject Areas, Class Officers and various
educational charts. The teachers table is paintedwhite, the students chair are painted
green and the floor is sporting red cement.

The seating arrangement is regardless of the gender. It is three-by-four in the left


and right side while four-by-four in the center facing the teachers table in the front. The
walls are painted with light orange. The windows are made up of woods and jealousies
covered with floral orange curtains.

The schedule of the class is 9:45- 10:45 AM or after the recess daily. The
mathematics subject in Grade 7- Brace class is held by Mrs.Vilma A. Zosa, one of the
teachers in Mathematics 7 at Oquendo National High School. The students are very
obedient to what the teacher said and they are very responsible to initiate in answering
the seat works and board works given by the teacher. On the other hand, the students
are helping one another but some of them were not. They have their reference book but
they are using these books in the ratio at 2:1. Aside from the reference books, the
school also provides Mathematics Park which also serves as an aid for students to the
basic mathematical concepts. It also provides Math Centrum where there are lots of
students projects, Mathematics books and any related learning materials on
Mathematics. It also provides Computer E- Learning Laboratory that allow learners
improve and enhance their learning in Mathematics.
