Introduction:

Indian constitution is a living constitution. Constitution has seen over 100 amendement laws in last 67
years to accomodate changing demands and requirement of the society. Supreme court of India has also
played significant role in evolving of Indian constitution. The principle of Constitutionality makes these
interpretation by the supreme court of the constitutution,as part of constitution. Granvile Austin in his
book Indian constitution: Cornerstone of the nation has elaborated the legitimacy of constituent
assembly and the historical consideration which played role in drafting Indian constitution.

In current times the ten most important and crucial provision of the constituion, in my view should be:

1. Right to Equality (Article 14-18) : It is the principal foundation of all other rights and liberites and
guarantees equality before law,social equality and equal access to public areas,equality in
matters of public employment,abolition of untouchabilty and abolition of titles. These provision
guarantee equality on one hand and on other hand gives scope for affirmative action in favour
of deprived groups in constituionally allowed including women. In view of further
marginalisation of weaker section through economic globalisation and restriction from
international organisation like WTO.

Rule of law and Equality before law are inalienable component of civil rights in any country
irrespective of the form of government.
2. Right to Freedom (Article 19-22) : It is given in Articles 19,20,21,
