To Whom It May Concern,

It is my honor and pleasure to provide this letter of recommendation for Kathryn Schulte as she pursues an
elementary classroom teaching position with your school. As the Literacy Curriculum Specialist, PreK-3 of Holliston
Public Schools, I have enjoyed having Kathryn as a member of our literacy team for our most at risk student
population in grades kindergarten through second. Kathryns commitment, professionalism and literacy knowledge
has far exceeded the expectations of the school community.

Kathryn has been very successful in completing her masters degree in language and literacy from Simmons
College while working as a strong literacy team member at the Placentino School. One of components of the
masters degree is the Wilson Reading Level I Certification practicum. This certification is designed to prepare
teachers to effectively implement Wilson Steps 1-12; designed for students reading and spelling below grade level
as well as those diagnosed with a language-based learning disabilities. Throughout this school year, Kathryn
worked diligently with a third grade student to successful completion of the Wilson practicum which brought this
rd
student within the average range of a 3 grade student.

Kathryn has always been dedicated to furthering her skills as a teacher. As literacy team member she has eagerly
learned and implemented many current literacy assessments (DIBELS Next, Benchmark Assessment Systems,
Developmental Reading Assessment, and Curriculum Based Measures) and research based interventions with
Fountas & Pinnells Leveled Literacy Intervention, and Wilson Fundations.

Kathryn embraces any opportunity for professional development, which makes her an ideal teacher and learner.
She has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially children. Her ability to connect with her students
and her talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior. She has
created phenomenal supplemental resources for each of her literacy groups which target individual needs in a fun
and exciting way.

Kathryn demonstrates great initiative with a positive attitude on a daily basis. I met with her to discuss planning and
implementation of lessons, as well as results of assessments administered to our at risk students. These ongoing
meetings have demonstrated to me her knowledge of the current trends in literacy and have made her an integral
part of the literacy team. I have also enjoyed watching her creative management skills with all students. She has
some of our toughest students who struggle in other environments but thrive in her classroom. In fact they run to
hug her at the beginning of each class meeting.

Even though I hope Kathryn stays here, I know she would be an outstanding asset to any school as a classroom
teacher. I give her my highest recommendation. I recommend Kathryn Schulte to you without reservation. If you
have any further questions with regard to her qualifications, please do not hesitate to contact me through email
lindstroma@holliston.k12.ma.us or phone (508) 429-0647 ext. 1209.

Respectfully,

Allison M. Lindstrom, M.S., C.A.G.S.
