2. Now, write 12 positive and negative present simple statements about yourself using
the verbs and nouns / noun phrases from above. The sentences can be true or false.

3. Work with a partner. Take it in turns to say a present simple statement.

Your partner has to guess if its true or false.

If your partner guesses correctly, say 'Yes, youre right'. If he/she guesses incorrectly, say
'No, youre wrong'.

Example:

A: I work in the evening.


B: I think that's true.
A: No, you're wrong. I work in the morning.
B: I don't listen to hip hop music.
A: I think that's false.
B: Yes, youre right. I don't listen to hip hop music. I listen to pop music.

Score one point for each correct guess. The winner is the student with the most points at the
end.

In this entertaining activity, students make affirmative and negative present simple
statements and their partner guesses if they are true or false.

Before class, make one copy of the worksheet for each student.

Procedure

Give each student a copy of the worksheet.

Tell them to match the verbs with the nouns / noun phrases.

Check the answers with the class.

Answer Key

A 8, B 5, C 12, D 7, E 10, F 4, G 11, H 1, I 3, J 9, K 6, L 2

Explain to the students that they are going to make positive and negative sentences about
themselves using the verbs and nouns / noun phrases. The sentences can be true or false.

Give some example sentences to the students and ask them if they think the sentences are
true or false.

Next, tell the students to write 12 positive and negative sentences about themselves.

When they have finished writing, put the students in pairs. If its possible, put the students
together with people they dont know very well.

Students then take it in turns to read a sentence and their partner decides if the sentence is
true or not.

If there is a group of three, two students can decide together what they think.

Students score one point for each correct guess.

The winner is the student with the most points at the end.
