DO NOT DISTURB
I live in the United States Of America and in my country, we use the American Flag.
On June 14, 1977, they established this flag for the newborn nation known as the
U.S.A.(Streufert, n.d.). The flag is known all over the world and has inspired many songs,
holidays, poems, books, art, and much more. The flag represents freedom which is one of the
attributes of being American. It has been there through good and bad times, but its still here. It
went through many designs before it got to the one we have today. From its first design in 1776
with only about 20 stars to the current one we have from 1960 which has 50 stars(History, n.d.).
Like I said earlier this flag inspired many songs. The Pledge Of Allegiance, and The Star
Spangled Banner are a few that were made from the flag. The American Flag inspired so many
people that we even have a flag day which is celebrated on June 14 of every year. This was
issued by President Woodrow Wilson on June 14 1949(Reporter, n.d.) . This is also the day that
the flag got approved by congress(Reporter, n.d.) If you want to get into this country and become
a citizen, you must complete a series of test to be able to gain citizenship. There are different
steps to it. You must be 18 years of age, be a permanent resident of U.S. , you must agree with
the constitution, must be able to speak english, and know U.S history.
If you are an immigrant and you are now apart of this country not only do you have to get
accustomed to the environment, you have to get accustomed to the new lifestyles. It may be hard
to find a place to stay and a places to work. The food is different from what they eat at home and
plus if there is food that may be related to their culture it doesn't even taste the same. I believe
most immigrants want to belong, but feel like they don't because of the language barrier that is

placed on them. They have a different culture and if they dont see there cultural being accepted
in a certain area thats going to keep them from forming relationships with other.
