a) what is the max lift of casting that we can do in RCC columns of say 15 storied buildings with

addition of admixtures and without adding admixtures. Is there any embargo placed in the
BNBC? Will the vibrator work in such longer lifts castings?
Ans: Columns of each floor are usually casted in two lifts but may be casted full height at a time.
In case of full height casting, the shutter should be strong enough to withstand the fresh
concrete pressure and special arrangement for vibration is required.

b) after how many hours of first lift of column castings we can start to place new shuttering on
the second lift and after how many hours we can do casting of the second lift.
Ans: The shuttering of second lift may be installed immediately after casting of the first lift
keeping the shutter of first lift in place.

c) after how many hours we can remove the 1st lift shuttering materials to put on the third lift.
Ans: Column shutter may be removed at least after 72 hours.

d) What will be the extra costs of using admixtures per cu.feet of RCC concrete on approx.
basis.
Ans: It depends on the type and dosage. In case of super plasticizer it may cost Tk. 12.00 to Tk.
15.00 per cft of concrete.

e) How to go about in quick cross beam castings? Can we make the rod work cage for the
beam on floor and then lift the entire cage to the grade beam level, connect the rods to the
columns naked rods and place it in the shutters that will be ready by the time we have started
the column steel works?
Ans: Pre-fabrication of reinforcing cages may definitely reduce construction time. Though not
common in our country, it may be done by qualified contractors having appropriate equipment
and logistics.

f) Pls find out from real estate developers or contractors if the present capacity of the Ready
Mix trucks delivers the ready mix to the pumps to its capacity or is the ready mix is giving more
or less and the pumps are not able to take it or deliver the same to the casting floor. What I
want to know is there any way we can do the casting faster than now by getting bigger ready
mix trucks or multiple trucks standby provided the pumps capacity is there to give castings on
the floors and provided of course if the time is there for vibratory feeders to do the vibration
successfully on the floors?
Ans: Casting of concrete at any height can be done using currently available stationary concrete
pumps with the RMC factories. Continuous casting is possible by arranging multiple concrete
trucks supplying concrete continuously at site.
