THE

PROMISE
HOUSE

GOALS for this new campus initiative . . .

Food Co-Op: To provide a place where students can access free, fresh, healthy
food. Student volunteers will help to sort food, stock the shelves, help shoppers, and
answer questions. As members, students will also participate as volunteers for other
Promise House programs.

Ohio Benefits Bank: To serve as an OBB counseling site. Sophomores and

junior students will be trained to enroll other students in free tax preparation,
assistance with financial aid, or enrollment in food assistance programs.

College 101: To work with local middle and high school students to raise
awareness about college readiness, provide advice about preparing for post-secondary
education, and share the benefits of an advanced degree. College 101 programming will
occur at many of the CCEs weekly youth programs and in collaboration with I Know I
Can, Call to College, and other college readiness organizations.

Otterbein Community Garden: To assist with the garden and collaborate

with SEEDS, Otterbeins student organization dedicated to sustainability and the
amelioration of food insecurity. Garden programs will help students to understand the
farm-to-table relationship, and will include nutrition and cooking classes.

Financial Literacy: To provide financial literacy programs for students. We

will work with local banks and community partners to host information sessions and
workshops for students about budgeting, saving, and other financial advice pertinent to
college students.

Alternative Spring Break: To host a local staycation spring break that will
include a series of community service projects and a special service opportunity in
Ohios Appalachian Country.
