Waste Disposal
After the removal of the bean from the husk the manner use of disposing wastes
are the Shredding of pods husks and grinding the husks to be used as mulching and
organic fertilizer. Theres also the extraction of pectin from cacao husk waste using citric
acid. Pectin is used in food as a gelling agent, particularly in jams and jellies. It is also
used in dessert fillings, medicines, sweets, as a stabilizer in fruit juices and milk drinks,
and as a source of dietary fiber. Utilization of such waste which accounts for as much as
76% of cacao fruit by weight for the extraction of value added ingredients such as pectin
would help to improve the waste disposal.

Technical Aspect
Cacao planting and farming doesnt use or need any heavy machine like other
agricultural products. Harvesting cacao is better when use both hands and machete so
that it wont affect the other pods. Farmers prefer to use tools like machete and they
also do hand on hand cleaning and maintaining the cocoa trees to easily give the plants
fertilizers for healthy growth. Blissful farm ensures that the cacao trees are involves in
the process of pruning that is essential for removing pods affected by diseases such as
monilla.
