2.0 Delivery Condition: Fully killed, fine grain and normalized condition.
4.0 Tolerances: Tolerance on thickness of plates shall be positive only. All other tolerances shall be
as per current specification SA-20.
5.0 Manufacturing:
a) The plates shall be made from steel produced by electric arc furnace and vacuum degassing /
basic oxygen furnace process with heated ladle refining and vacuum degassing.
b) The material shall be manufactured as per fine grain practice and only aluminum shall be used
as grain refining element.
c) Plates shall be free from injurious defects and shall have workman like finish. Reconditioning /
repair of plates by welding are not permitted.
d) Surface conditions shall meet requirements of EN 10163 Class A Subclass 3.
e) Additional elements such as Lead, Selenium, Sulphur etc. shall not be added intentionally to
improve machinability.
10.0 Certification:
a) Manufacturers Test Certificates as per clause 19 of SA-20 and EN 10204: 2004 Type 3.2 duly
endorsed by TPIA along with TPIA Inspection Certificate shall be furnished in the English
language and in A4 size in three sets.
b) Test certificate shall report all mandatory information required by material specification plus
report / requirement of clause 1.0 to 10.0 of this specification as minimum.
11.0 Third Party Inspection Agency (TPIA): LRA/TUV/BV. Scope of TPIA is as follow;
a) Review Point: Raw material MTC, HT record, Chemical (heat and product), Test piece selection.
b) Witness Point: Mechanical testing (100%), Ultrasonic testing (10%), Visual & dimension
inspection (10%), Marking (10%).
c) Hold Point: Issuance of Inspection Certificate with endorsement of Manufacturers Certificates.
12.0 Marking:
As per requirements of specification SA-20 as applicable along with TPIA low stress stamps.
Markings shall be protected from erosion, wear, or other events that may render them unreadable.
Notes:
1) Plates are required with test results duly certified in SI units.
2) Sample material test certificates shall be reviewed and confirmed by M/S PHILS Q.C. department before
finalizing order. QAP shall be approved from M/S PHILS prior to manufacture.
3) Vendor to strictly follow requirements of TDC. Any apparent conflict between the requirements listed in
this specification and the applicable specifications mentioned shall be submitted to M/S PHILS before
proceeding further for clarification.
4) Material not meeting the requirements of this specification shall be rejected.
