Highlight Findings in Biology (Custom-built tools for the study of deer antler biology)

April 25, 2017
Special tools have been developed at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to help
facilitate the study of tissue growth in deer antlers for biomedical applications. Each tool has been
developed with a specific task in mind allowing for it to be the best option for that job only. These tools
will allow researchers to investigate and identify stimuli for pedicle growth and antler formation, slicing
thin periosteum to facilitate gene delivery thus allowing transgenic antlers to be possible. They also help
with theory testing for in vivo antler stem cells allowing for antler generation, regeneration and rapid
growth to be studied. These applications could have huge effects on deer farms and furthering research

Its All About Me: How Self-Brand Connection and Social Media Interactivity Influence Purchase Intent
Theses and Dissertations
Shannon Taylor McCarthy
8-2016
People create their own identities for themselves using tools such as social media. Social media,
through posts, images, and interactions allows for the outward expression of individuals identities.
Consumers seek brands that are self-representative and that help display a piece of who they are. This,
in turn, impacts the way the brand is seen as a whole. Purchase intent is important for brands to
consider when trying to sell products. From Study 2, purchase intent is shown to be affected by the
social value of the brand and how others will perceive those with it. Through all three studies, marketers
can further understand the effect of consumer-brand interactions and use that when advertising their
products.

The Emerging Potential of Video Games
Aaron Kandola
Australasian Science Journal Article
2016
With video games growing in sophistication, accessibility and popularity every year, research
into video games and how they stimulate the brain is becoming more popular. Studying the impact of
gaming on the brain is still under development and has many unanswered questions since it is a
relatively new concept. Video games have to been shown to increase brain function in particular areas
such as attention, perception and executive control among many others. With this knowledge,
researchers are beginning to look at ways video games can be used to treat mental illnesses or train
individuals in particular procedures. Continued research will provide answers as to whether a shift in the
