Physical RF connections
The RF capacity is measured in sectors, carriers, and RF signal power. The RF capacity
determines what components appear in the RRH and what antenna connections are
required.
The base station can be connected to RRHs of the following RF frequency:
UMTS 850 MHz using the RRH 2X60-850
UMTS 1900 MHz using the RRH 2X60-1900
UMTS 2100 MHz using the RRH 2X60-2100
UMTS 2100A MHz using the RRH 2X60-2100A
The RRH accepts connections for:
Two or four RF antenna cables with 7-16 DIN coaxial female connectors
RF configurations
The following configurations are supported.

Star or Daisy Chain solution
The solution is a distributed architecture composed of two optical interfaces located in:
The digital NodeB:
9326 d2U v2
9926 d2U v3
9926 d4U
The RRH
The optical modules are connected by optical fibers that carry:
Downlink and uplink base band digital signals
OAM information
The daisy chain allows to connect RRHs on one single optical link connected to the
digital Node B part.
In the star configuration the BBU is the central node that provides the common
connection point for all connected RRHs.
The daisy chain and the star configuration can be mixed.

RF antenna cable requirements
Each RRH can support two RF antennas for a one-sector configuration with
transmit/receive diversity. The RF antenna cable must satisfy the following requirements:
Impedance: 50 ohms
Attenuation must be taken into account: for example a 2.5m jumper cable introduces a
0.4 dB loss.
The antenna jumper cable end (to the RRH) must be equipped with a 7-16 DIN center
pin straight connector (male).
Lightning protection (optional)
The antenna cables must be protected by a cable duct or protective cable pipes.
Properly grounded.
The minimum bending radius should comply with the space available between the
equipments.

Interface Requirement
Mechanical interface The customer is responsible for specifying all the
mechanical requirements for the power system such as
dimensions, weights, anchoring, grounding,
conduit/cable interfaces, and installation features.
RRH interfaces All the power system electrical interfaces are located at
the bottom of the RRH.
For dimensions of the RRH, refer to Chapter 2 of this
document.
Important: Under no circumstances must any
modification (e.g. drilling) be made to an RRH unless
the modification is covered by an Alcatel-Lucent
"Change Notice."
Electrical interface requirements The electrical interfaces between the power system and
the RRH consist of DC power and power system alarms.
All RRHs receive DC power independently from the
power system. All power system alarms interface with
the RRH.
The following diagram shows the electrical interfaces of a typical power system.

Notes:
1. If an RRH is located greater than 5 meters cable separation from a power cabinet, then a
customer provided interconnection box with primary protection and larger power wires
acceptance need to be engineered.
DC power connection
The DC power connection interface to each RRH is done via a Alcatel-Lucent provided
15' cable (5 m).
The circuit breakers providing DC power to the RRH must be able to withstand this high
inrush current. The Airpax Inc., model LEL/LML, circuit breakers with type 51, DC trip

Transient surge protection
The DC power system shall be designed to prevent surge transients at its input passing
through to the output and causing voltage transient in excess of -60 Volts (for -48 V DC
systems) to the RRH . Adequate transient surge protection shall be provided for the DC
feeders by running the feeders from the power system to equipment inside properly
grounded metallic conduit. In addition, surge protectors and/or surge suppressors may be
required to limit surge voltages to less than -60 Volts (for -48 V DC systems). If external
surge protection is required to meet this limit, it should be installed near the DC input
terminal of the RRH .
DC power grounding
The -48 V DC return conductors shall be bonded to the frame ground system at the output
of the DC power system. For proper site grounding of the equipment, refer to
Alcatel-Lucent's, "Grounding and Lightning Protection Guidelines for Alcatel-Lucent
