Introduction
Boracay has many things to offer, and in this guide I give you detailed information
about all things Boracay. Such as the different beaches to visit, where to stay, the
nightlife and much more...

The end goal of this guide is to help you have the best possible experience on the
island, by showing you and pointing you to all the different things that the island
has to offer. Because Boracay Island is small in size, but big in what it has to offer.

About the Author

Hi, Im Paul Fournier.

Im an expat living in Boracay and I always

missed a good detailed guide for the island.
Because most of the info out there is pretty
generic and doesnt go into much detail

Thats how The Ultimate Guide To Boracay was

born, with the intention to fill that void, and to
be the ultimate and only guide youll ever need
for Boracay Island.

In this guide I describe the island to you in the most possible detail. And I show
you all the fun things to do on the island. so that you can get the most out of your
experience on the island and have an awesome time!

So, let's get started.

Take a look over my shoulder as I show you Boracay...

10 Reasons To Make Boracay
Island Your Next Holiday
Destination

Welcome to paradise. Boracay is a tiny tropical island where people from all over
the world come to enjoy beach life, watersport activities, and a vibrant nightlife. It's
located in the mid-west of the Philippines - a one hour flight away from the
country's capital (Manila).

Boracays attraction is not limited to just a few things. Its the combination of many
things that makes this island truly unique...

In the words of travel blogger Sabrina Iovino from JustOneWayTicket.com:

Boracay is the kind of island you will never want to leave. I've
traveled to more than 50 countries and there are not many
places where I've returned 5 times. Boracay is one of them. -
Sabrina Iovino. Travel Blogger & Photographer
With that said, in this chapter I'll show you specifically what things Boracay Island
has going for it. So without further talk, here are the 10 reasons that make
people fall in love with Boracay...

1. Its Stunning White Beach

White Beach is the main beach of Boracay. It's 4 kilometers long and has resorts,
restaurants and nightlife venues along it.

The main reasons why people love this beach are...

Beautiful shallow and still turquoise water - great for swimming

Breathtaking sunsets
Powdery white sand
Everything you need is close by
For a more detailed tour of White Beach you can check out my guide: What
Boracays White Beach is Like & Where To Stay.

2. 8 More Beautiful Beaches

Boracay Island has not 1, 2 or 3 beautiful beaches but 9, and all within close
proximity of each other, since the island is very small (7 by 1.5 kilometers).

Each beach also has it's own attractiveness. Some are amazingly beautiful, some
are good for snorkeling, some have privacy, and some have a mix of those and
other things.

I've created The Complete Guide To Boracay's Beaches to help you locate the best
beaches that Boracay has to offer.
3. The Friendly Local People

When you arrive in Boracay one of the first things you'll notice is the friendliness
and openness of the local people. Thats not where it stops though...

Filipinos also speak English as their second language, so there is no language

barrier (unlike as in so many other South East Asian countries). Because of this you
can easily connect and make friends with locals as well as with other tourists.

Brazilian travel bloggers Natalie & Rob from LoveAndRoad.com say it best:

The first lesson we learned about Boracay, Philippines is that

the beauty of this country is not only the nature, but the people
who live there and the smile they give to us all the time! -
Natalie Deduck, Travel Blogger
4. The Vibrant Nightlife

Meeting new people or just having a fun night out with your friends is easy in
Boracay with many nightlife venues to choose from. Alcohol is cheap so if you like
to drink you're in the right place.

John O'Nolan says it best:

Boracay is pretty much the Ibiza of Asia. The nightlife is

absolutely fantastic. There is something for everyone from live
music, to clubs, to flame-breathing belly-dancers. Its got it all. -
John O'Nolan, Kitesurfer, Traveler & Internet Entrepreneur

I've created The Ultimate Guide To Boracay's Nightlife to help you find the places
that you will enjoy the most.
5. Mouthwatering Fresh Seafood

The seafood market (D'Talipapa) has many different kinds of seafood. You can
bring that seafood to one of the nearby restaurants, who will then prepare it for
you.

These restaurants are specialized in cooking seafood, so you can choose from
many different preparations. For example: in the above picture the prawns on the
left are prepared in mango sauce and the ones on the right are grilled.
6. World-Class Sunsets

White beach or Puka beach for that matter are perfect places to watch the sunset.
Colors vary from fiery red to orange to pink and everything in between. It all
depends on the "mood" of the island in the current moment.

In the words of Lois Yasay from WeAreSoleSisters.com:

Boracay's sunset is a beautiful surprise every single day. Every

day the colors are in different vibrant shades. Its as if the
sunset goddesses are trying to outdo with each other with the
sky's palette. - Lois Yasay, Travel Blogger & Surfer

You can watch the sun rise at Bulabog Beach (a 10 minute walk away from White
Beach).
7. The Soul-Soothing Underwater
World

I found Nemo!

Boracay has 27 dive sites that are accessible via a short boat ride. Most of them
are easy so it's a good place for beginners to learn. If you are a more experienced
diver then there are some challenging dive sites as well, like Yapak.

As for snorkeling: my favorite is Tambisaan Beach. Or you can go island hopping

and visit the best snorkeling spots by boat.
8. Learn Wind or Kitesurfing

If you're up for some extreme adventure you can take up wind or kitesurfing at
Bulabog Beach. Bulabog Beach has excellent conditions for beginning surfers as
well as freestylers.

The water is shallow and flat which lets you learn and progress quickly.
9. Accommodation for Every Budget

Boracay is often seen as expensive by people who have not been there yet. This is
a misunderstanding. You can spend a lot if you want of course, but Boracay also
accommodates the budget traveler...

You can book a budget place for as little as P200 / $4.5 per night or a luxurious
private villa for P51.000 / $1031. It all depends on what your budget is and what
you want. You choose.
10. Comfortable Weather &
Convenience

Boracay generally has a breezy wind that gives some cool. This makes it
comfortable to move around and be active. The yearly temperature averages out
to 29C / 84F.

The island also has the conveniences of a small city + the benefits of a tropical
paradise in one. You can find everything you need there - shopping, international
cuisine, nightlife etc.
What Boracays White Beach is
Like & Where To Stay
White Beach is by far the biggest and most popular beach in Boracay. But what can
you find there and where do you stay? In this chapter I describe the beach and its
different areas in detail Once read you should have a very good idea of what to
expect, and what the best area to stay in is for you.

The main attraction of White Beach is of course its beauty but also that you have
everything you need there: hotels, restaurants, nightlife, activities, its all available
right in front of the beach.

Its a very good place for swimming as well, since the water is usually flat, has no
current and becomes deep slowly.
During morning and noon times the beach is relatively quiet. These are good times
to go out if you like to have the beach more to yourself.

In the afternoon more people start to come to the beach and youll see locals and
tourists alike starting to play sports.

Volleyball is by far the most popular beach-sport on Boracay, but soccer is played
as well (mostly in station 1 since the beach is wider there).
The sun sets around 6 PM all year round. Its the busiest time on the beach with
lots of people taking pictures and enjoying the view.

In the evening the beach path gets busy with many people visiting restaurants.
Then at around 9-10 the nighlife kicks in and the bars become busy. Around
midnight the bars quickly become quiet again as most people move from the bars
to the clubs.

The beach has 2 parts that run parallel to each other: the path and the beach
itself. The path runs along the buildings that sit in front of the beach and is
separated from the beach itself by palm trees. You can see this in the picture
below
Now that you have a better idea of what White Beach is like, you might wonder
what the best area to stay in is. This is a good question to ask yourself, since the
beach is 4 kilometers long, and the area that you stay in will have a big impact on
your experience in Boracay

So to help you choose the area that fits you best Ive written the following guide:
Where to Stay?
White beach is divided into 3 sections: station 1,
2 and 3. You wont notice any separation
between these stations when youre walking on
the beach though, so its best to think of them as
north, middle and south respectively.

This station naming originates from the times

when boats were still allowed to bring tourist
directly to the beach from the mainland. During
that time they were boat stations.

The best station to stay in depends mainly on

your preferences, so to help you pick the right
station Ive described each of them in detail below
Station 1: Luxury and Space

Station 1 is the home of a lot of luxurious resorts. Its also the home of Willys Rock,
one of Boracays famous visual landmarks.

The beach is more wide then in other stations, since there is no separate walking
path, and the water is shallow for many meters. Its a relatively quiet place
compared to station 2.

The nightlife in Station 1 consist mostly out of clubs that are packed together
within a short walking distance.

P.S. If you like to party, check out my Ultimate Guide to Boracays Nightlife.
Station 2: The Epicenter

Station 2 is the center of Boracay and the home of a lot of mid-range resorts. The
water is still shallow, only a bit less then in Station 1.

Since this is the center of Boracay, the beach can become a bit crowded
sometimes (usually around sunset).

Dmall (the main shopping center of Boracay) sits

right in the middle of Station 2. And you can find
DTalipapa, the seafood market, in the south part
of Station 2.

The nightlife consists out of plenty of bars, live

music and 3 clubs.
Station 3: Peace and Nature

Station 3 is the home of a lot of budget and backpacker hotels. The beach drops
off a lot steeper into the water here, so it becomes deep pretty fast.

One of the things I like about Station 3 is that it has a good amount of green
nature, this makes it look more peaceful then the other stations. Its also the most
quiet station (the far south part of it).

The nightlife is quiet. There are a handful of laid back bars and one club.
Conlusion & Summary
White Beach has a lot of things going on, and depending on what your preferences
are you can choose the best place for you

Do you like a more peaceful place? Then Station 3 is probably the best place for
you. If you like to party hard or just like to be in the center of it all, then Station 2 is
a good choice. For the more luxuriously inclined there is Station 1.

A quick summary:

Station 1 Station 2 Station 3

Hotel Prices: High Medium Low
Beach Vibe: Upscale and The center of it all Peaceful and
spacious green
Beach Size: Wide Normal Normal
Water Depth: Shallow Shallow Becomes deep
more quickly
Nightlife: 3 clubs in close 3 clubs & plenty of 1 club & a some
proximity to each bars quiet bars
other
Shopping: Not much Plenty Not much
Sports: Volleyball & soccer Volleyball Volleyball

Now you know most of what there is to know about White Beach and its different
areas, choosing where to stay should have become a lot easier.

P.S. Boracay has 8 other beaches that are worth visiting as well, continue to my
guide to all of Boracays beatiful beaches to check them out
The 9 Beautiful Beaches of
Boracay
Boracay is well know for its White Beach, but there are quite a few other beaches
that are worth visiting as well. In this chapter I will discuss the known as well as the
lesser known beaches that are still well worth visiting, so that you can enjoy all of
the worthwhile beaches that Boracay has to offer

Famous White Beach

White Beach is by far the biggest and most popular beach in Boracay. The main
attraction of this beach is of course its beauty but also that you have everything
you need there: resorts, restaurants, nightlife, activities, its all available right in
front of the beach.

The downside that comes with that is that it can become crowded sometimes
(usually only around sunset time though).

The beach is 4 kilometers long and is divided in to 3 sections, named Station 1, 2

and 3. Each station has its own things going for it, and the best place to stay
depends largely on your personal preferences

For a more detailed tour of White Beach you can check out my guide: What
Boracays White Beach is Like & Where To Stay.

Beautiful Puka Beach

Puka Beach is the second most popular beach on Boracay. Its a 20 minute tricycle
ride away from the center of Boracay and because of that its also a more quiet
place, but very beautiful. Especially when you go there in the early morning you
can sometimes have the place all to yourself, which can be a special experience.

There are huts on the beach that you can relax in, they are built on the big cliff that
stretches along the back of the beach. Usually people just chill out on the sand
though. At dusk the giant bats come out, you can see them flying across the tops
of the cliffs.

Kitesurfing at Bulabog Beach

Bulabog Beach is the kite and windsurfing beach of Boracay. During the windy
season (November to April) you can see the wind and kitesurfers blasting and
jumping across the water. If you are interested in learning one of these sports then
there are plenty of beginner-friendly schools along the beach to choose from.

Diniwid Beach is a small but nice beach. Its only a short walk from the Station 1
area of White Beach. The main reason I like to go there is not so much for the
beach itself, but because there is a very nice loungey bar/restaurant there named
Spider House. Its a perfect place to enjoy the sunset.

Apart from just relaxing in the place itself, you can also jump straight into the
water for a swim, or do some tanning on a floating wooden deck that theyve put
in the water there.
Adventurous Ilig Iligan Beach

Ilig Iligan Beach is nice if youre up for some adventure! The beach itself is ok, but
what I like most of the place is that its a gateway to two secret beaches that barely
any tourist knows about. You just have to swim there.

When youre all the way to the right of the Ilig

Iligan Beach just swim along the cliff and you will
discover the first private beach. Its about a 5
minute swim and the water is deep, so its not for
everyone. But if you like an adventure and you
can swim well then its a great experience.
After you reach the first beach there is a second beach as well. You dont have to
swim for that one, you can usually just walk there by walking over some rocks in
the water.

Snorkeling at Tambisaan Beach

Tambisaan Beach is great for snorkeling. Of all the beaches in Boracay, Tambisaan
has by far the most marine life. Just walk across the beach and when youre
around one third along the beach walk into the water, thats were all the marine
life is.
Balinghai Beach for Secluded Dining

Balinghai Beach is a small private beach that is only accessible during low tide.
During high tide the beach is under water. Usually you will be the only visitor on
the beach there.

One of the nice things there is that you can have dinner on the beach, right next to
the water.

Because its a private beach (it belongs to the Balanghai Beach Resort) there is an
entrance fee. The entrance fee is 500 PHP per person. For children of 8 years old
and younger its free. The entrance fee you pay is consumable as credit for the
restaurant.
Honorable Mentions
The beaches discussed above are all publicly accessible and great places to spend
some time at. The rest of the beaches on Boracay are either completely private or
not worth visiting. About the private beaches

There are 2 private beaches on Boracay that are not accessible if you are not a
guest at the resort that those beaches are owned by. These are:

Lapuz Lapuz Beach

Lapuz Lapuz Beach is a private beach owned by the Fairways & Bluewater
Newcoast Resort. As you can see on the picture the beach looks great, but
unfortunately only in-house guests are allowed to visit it. As an outsider you cant
visit the beach by paying an entrance fee like you can at Balanghai Beach.
Banyugan & Punta Bunga Beach

Banyugan and Punta Bunga Beach are two beaches next to eachother owned by
the Shangri-La Resort. This beach is only accessible by in-house guests as well. I
stopped to rest on this beach during a kayak trip one day and we were kicked off
the beach by a security guard within 30 seconds.

Beach Locations Map

To see the location of each beach check out my online beaches map.

Conclusion
Most people that visit Boracay only visit White Beach and Puka Beach. The 2 most
well known Beaches of Boracay. But as you can see, Boracay actually has quite a
few more beaches that are worth a visit.
Having armed you with the knowledge of the different beaches and what you can
do there I hope to have helped you to make the most of your stay on Boracays
beaches!

Boracays Nightlife: The

Ultimate Guide

Boracay is well known for its vibrant, seven days a week nightlife. There are many
different nightlife venues to choose from from wild parties, to bars, to lounges
with live music. There is something for everyone.

Knowing that, how do you find the places that best fit your likes? Read on to find
out

In this guide I list and describe all of Boracays nightlife venues that matter, so that
you can easily find the clubs, bars, lounges and parties that fit your style.

As you determine which places you like you can use the nightlife map to quickly
find their exact locations.

So lets get started

Boracays Clubs
Boracays nightclubs become busy around 12:00 midnight as most people move
from the bars to the clubs. Ive embedded videos of most of them so that you can
get a good impression of what they are like.

The music they play really varies, none of them always play the same kind of
music. If you really prefer a certain kind of music you can give the clubs a call
ahead of time to find out what they will be playing.

Epic

Epic sits right in the center of Boracay, next to Dmall and in front of the Beach in
Station 2.

During the day its a resto-bar, and as the night progresses they move most tables
out of the way and turn the place into a club with a dance floor. They often extend
the dance floor onto the beach.

Its one of the more classy clubs in terms of looks.

Levantin Bar
Levantin is a resto-bar located in front of Bulabog Beach. Their food quality is
pretty good and next to the bar they have a nice chill-out area. Its a great place to
relax and watch the wind and kitesurfing action that happens on the water there
during high season.

The music in the bar is mostly rock.

Lounges and Relaxing Places

I personally love live music and most lounges that I cover here have that. Boracay
has quite a few more lounges then the ones I cover here though, and I will be
adding them as I visit and explore more of them.

Bom Bom Bar

Bom Bom is a lounge with a great vibe. I personally love the look of the place and
the live music completes the whole picture. Its a great place to relax and just hang
out with some friends.

Wave Bar and Lounge

Wave Bar and Lounge is the most classy lounge Ive laid my eyes upon in Boracay.
They also have a dance floor in the back that becomes busy later in the night.

Treehouse

Treehouse is a bamboo style resto-bar-lounge. If you like live acoustic music then
this is a good place to go to. Its a more quiet place compared to Bom Bom Bar.

They are located on White Beach in Station 3 and can easily be reached by tricycle
since they are located right next to a road.

Hobbit House

Hobbit House is another place with live music, thats the main reason why I
included it. Its actually not really a lounge, its more like a restaurant with a small
bar.

The music makes this a relaxing place though, thats why I included this
atmospheric place in the lounges section.
