Oncology Snack Menu

Queens Medical Center

The Why

The human body needs a healthy diet to function at its best. This is even more
important for cancer patients. With a healthy diet, patients will go into
treatment with reserves to maintain their strength, lean muscle and a defense
against infection. People who eat well are better able to cope with the side
effects of treatment.

During cancer treatment, the body often needs extra calories and protein to
maintain weight and heal as quickly as possible. If a patient is losing weight,
snacks can help patients meet those needs.

treatment
Takes some of the guess work out of choosing foods-patients dont feel well
and may not always been seen by the RD helps them choose foods to eat
Helps to prevent/lessen side effects of cancer (e.g. weight loss, lack of
appetite)
Higher patient satisfaction higher courtesy scores
Separate Health Touch screen
Easy prompting for SRC staff to assist patients in making choices
Less confusion
