Chapter 2 Introduction
WARNING
The instrument must only be operated by medical practicioners who have undergone special
training. Use by unqualified personnel or consumers bears the risk of serious injury.
The function of HIVAMAT 200 Evident is based on a pulsed electrostatic field which is built up in the pa-
tient's body region to be treated. Its frequency changes between 5 - 250 Hz, according to the selected
program. Due to the movement of the hand applicator, a vibrating or pumping effect with deep impact is
induced in the patient's tissue. The treatment is carried out with the supplied hand applicators.
Treatment with HIVAMAT 200 Evident has the following positive effects on the treated tissue:
muscle relaxation
relief of muscle aches and pains
increased local blood circulation
2.2 Contraindications
Therapy with HIVAMAT 200 Evident is not indicated in the following cases:
acute infections
acute inflammations with participation of pathogenic agents
active tuberculosis

You have a total of 150 memory locations available for individual treatment programs (see INDIVIDUAL
Menu on page 27).
You can store patient-specific treatment programs on a therapy card (one treatment program per card),
which can be read by HIVAMAT 200 Personal. You can thus allow for individual, patient-specific therapy
even outside the treatment rooms (see THERAPY CARD Menu on page 29).
The instrument complies with all the valid safety standards, especially:
IEC 60601-1: Electronic medical devices, Part 1: General safety requirements
IEC 60601-1-4 Electronic Medical Devices - Part 1-4: General Safety Requirements - Accompanying
Standard: Programmable Electronic Medical Devices
All screen and control elements are integrated in the casing, so its surface is easy to clean and the product
is protected from dust.
The instrument's microprocessor monitors the safety-related components, prevents erroneous operation
and checks the instrument after switching it on.
CAUTION
The data selector <2> below the screen <1> is for selecting the
treatment parameters.
Rotate the data selector <2> to change the individual menu items

The instrument completes an automatic function test, checking all functions and initialization values.
The instrument is now ready for operation. You are now in the MAIN MENU (or in the start menu
defined by you, see SETTINGS Menu on page 31).
NOTICE
Inform your service partner if the monitoring note does not disappear even after several func-
tion tests! Never perform a treatment when the proper function of the instrument is not as-
sured!
You will find the manufacturer's address under the menu item Help or at the beginning of
this manual.
If a functioning error is detected in the automatic function test or during operation, screen <1> shows a
message. It is easy to pinpoint and rectify faults on the basis of these messages. If a fault occurs, the con-
sequences are:
A message is shown on the screen <1> in the bottom half (e.f. for a communication error: Monitor-
ing Note 110).
The intensity (and therefore the voltage on the connecting socket <5>) is lowered to zero.
The operation of the instrument is blocked; pressing the data selector <2> will hide the message.
If the message was triggered by a brief malfunction that does not persists, the instrument is ready to oper-
ate immediately, without switching on and off.
If the fault however persists, the message appears again. Switch the instrument on and off repeatedly. The
instrument will then run an automatic function test (see Automatic Function Test on page 11). Check
whether the message continues to appear.
NOTICE
The instrument never goes into the power saving mode if there is voltage at the connecting
socket <5> or while the instrument is in operation.
If the HIVAMAT 200 Evident has not been used for a long time, it switches over into the power saving
mode. You can see whether the power saving mode is active, as well as the interval after which it switches
over, in the menu SETTINGS (see SETTINGS Menu on page 31).
If the instrument is is in the power saving mode, you can reactivate it by pressing or rotating the data se-
lector <2>. You can immediately continue to operate it.
You can do so by pressing the data selector <2> for a few seconds. The instrument then continues to run
(without output voltage), only the monitor and operating panel are switched off. Pressing or rotating the
switch again switches on the instrument again in the active operating state.
(1) Select a treatment and adjust the intensity by using the intensity control <3> to 100%. The treat-
ment frequency should be at least 100 Hz.

(3) Insert both the ends of the connecting cable to be checked into the patient cable DEEP OSCILLATION.
(4) Move the connecting cable and observe the blue control light <7>:
The control light <7> lights up continuously: The cable is defective.
The control light <7> does not light up: The cable is OK
The control light <7> flashes when the cable is moved: The cable is defective.
(5) Change the defective cable immediately.
CAUTION
Replace the membrane immediately if damaged. Any damage to the oscillator membrane
might lead to harmless (but unpleasant) sensations on the skin.
(2) Cover
(4) Membrane
Important
The oscillator head is screwed into the handle. To remove the head from the handle, you must rotate it to
the left.
(1) Take off the clamping ring and remove the membrane.
(2) Insert the new membrane with the foil facing down loosely into the clamping ring, so that the mem-
brane foil protrudes laterally.
CAUTION
Adjust the intensity before each treatment and observe the contraindications (refer to Con-
traindications on page 2).
The HIVAMAT 200 Evident offers you the following options for treatment:
Direct access through the menu TREATMENT (see How to Perform a Treatment on page 18).
Via the treatment parameters in the menu TREATMENT EXPERT (see How to Set the Therapy Para-
meters on page 20).
Via the menu TREATMENT PROGRAMS (see How to Call a Treatment Program on page 24)
Via the menu INDIVIDUAL (see How to Rename an Individual Treatment Program on page 28)
Via the menu THERAPY CARD (see How to Read a Therapy Card on page 30)
NOTICE
The intensity should be selected according to the minimum dosage principle i.e. in the lower
effective range.
The hand applicator should always remain in contact with the patient's skin and be guided
over the body surface without removing it or stopping. Differentiate between therapy move-
ment and guided movements: The proximal therapy movement (for the body center) is ex-
ecuted with suitable pressure, the distal guided movement (from the body center outwards) is
done without pressure.
For low frequencies (5 ... 40 Hz) the therapy movement should be distinctly slow. The guided
movement can always be faster.
After switching over to a new therapy phase, it may be necessary to adjust the intensity in or-
der to reach the same resonant vibration strength.

(3) Click on the symbol . You come to the TREATMENT EXPERT menu and can define the paramet-
ers for the therapy sections if you wish (see How to Set the Therapy Parameters on page 20).
Tip
You can already set the therapy time in the TREATMENT menu.
(4) By rotating the Intensity control <3> set the intensity. When the intensity is increased, the treat-
ment starts; the treatment time starts to count down and the control light <7> lights up.
When using with several therapy steps, the therapy parameters are switched over automatically after
the end of the first therapy phase. As soon as the time for the last treatment phase has expired, the
intensity returns to zero and an audible signal is emitted.
To change the therapy time of the individual therapy sections, proceed as follows:
(1) On the data selector <2> click the timer symbol behind the respective therapy section.
(2) Rotate the data selector <2> and shorten the therapy time to the desired value.
(3) Press the data selector <2> to confirm the selected therapy time.
Important
The total therapy time is always the sum of the therapy times of the individual therapy sec-
tions.
You can generally prolong or shorten the therapy time in the TREATMENT menu for all ther-
apy sections. In case of the active therapy section (that therapy section, in which the instru-
ment currently is, with the ongoing therapy and intensity set greater than zero), the new ther-
apy time is included only for the current treatment, if it is shorter than the originally set ther-
apy time.

Frequency Treatment frequency for fixed frequency or lower and upper frequency for fre-
quency band
Sweep Attack time, sustain time and decay time (only for frequency band)
Important
In the current context, the non-selectable parameters are displayed in light grey.
Assuming that you have selected the frequency band 5 ... 250 Hz and the three times 1s, 2s
and 3s are selected:
The frequency is initially at the maximum value (250 Hz) for one second. Thereafter the fre-
quency reduces to two seconds long, continuously up to 5 Hz. This frequency is kept for three
seconds. Finally, the frequency lengthens continuously, until after two seconds, the upper lim-
The selection of a burst frequency emits impulses in packets. The burst value here corresponds
to the number of the compounded packets per second. For example, a burst of the value 1 is
set for a selected fixed frequency of 10 Hz (i.e. 10 impulses per second), the impulses are
emitted in the initial half of a second; no impulses are emitted in the second half. This se-
quence continuously repeats itself.
Important
The HIVAMAT 200 Evident automatically ensures that the lower frequency is not great-
er than the upper frequency. The lower frequency must always be 5 Hz smaller than the
upper frequency.
(9) On the data selector <2> select the Sweep field (only for frequency band; not possible for fixed fre-
quency). Set here the time spans (respectively 1 ... 60 s).
(10) Repeat the steps discussed here if necessary, for the other therapy sections.
