Baja S45C adalah baja karbon sedang dengan kandungan kadar karbon
0,25-0,55% yang mempunyai kekuatan tarik 58 kg/mm2. Baja S45C masih banyak
digunakan dan hampir keseluruhan pabrik gula ex peninggalan Hindia-Belanda
masih menggunakan baja tersebut untuk komponen-komponen mesin produksi

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kompetensi


mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan matakuliah praktik kerja pemesinan dikedua
lembaga yang kemudian dibandingkan kompetensinya.
Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif
dengan menggunakan metode survei. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan
dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Pengambilan
sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dengan mempertimbangkan bahwa
yang bersangkutan sebagai mahasiswa yang praktik industri di PPPPTK (VEDC)
dan sebagai mahasiswa pendidikan teknik mesin UM angkatan 2011. Analisis
data yang digunakan adalah uji normalitas, homogenitas dan hipotesis yang
digunakan menggunakan independent t-test.
Berdasarkan hasil analisis data penelitian, diperoleh tiga kesimpulan
sebagai berikut. Pertama, kompetensi praktik industri di PPPPTK (VEDC)
dikatakan baik, diihat dari sarana prasarana yang banyak dan efisien.
Pembelajaran praktik kerja pemesinan adalah dengan mengerjakan jobsheet dari
konsumen barang dan jasa PPPPTK (VEDC) Malang yang menunjang
kompetensi mahasiswa praktik industri dalam praktik kerja pemesinan. Kedua,
kompetensi mahasiwa pendidikan teknik mesin UM cukup baik, dengan adanya
sarana prasarana yang cukup banyak dan memadahi. Pembelajaran praktik kerja
pemesinan dengan mengerjakan jobsheet yang sama sesuai kurikulum dan standar
kompetensi dalam buku katalog FT. Ketiga, perbandingan kompetensi mahasiswa
PI di PPPPTK (VEDC) lebih baik dari pada mahasiswa PTM UM dilihat dari
aspek mulai sarana prasarana, kurikulum dan pembelajarannya karena adanya
tanggung jawab terhadap barang yang dikerjakan oleh mahasiswa PI di PPPPTK
(VEDC) dengan interaksi kepada konsumen.

Student industry practice of mechanical engineering education UM widely
spread in East Java, is no exception Malang itself is precisely in the Development
Center for Empowerment of Teachers and Education Personnel (PPPPTK) or
Vocational Education Development Center (VEDC). This research will be study
the comparison between student competence in industry practice PPPPTK
(VEDC) with competence student of mechanical engineering education UM. The
focus of this study is the difference in time and learning systems, and
infrastructure of both institutions as a factor in supporting student competency.
This study was conducted to determine the competence of the students in
the lecture course of machining work practices in both institutions were then
compared the competence.
This research uses descriptive quantitative research design using a survey
method. Data collection techniques used in this research is observation, interview
and documentation. Sampling using purposive sampling taking into consideration
that the person concerned as a student who practices in the industry PPPPTK
(VEDC) and as a student of mechanical engineering education UM class of 2011.
Analysis of the data used were normality test, homogeneity and hypotheses used
is using independent t-test.
Based on the analysis of research data, obtained three conclusions as
follows. First, the competence of industry practice in PPPPTK (VEDC) is said to
be good, it can be seen from the infrastructure which many and efficient.
Machining work practice learning is by doing jobsheet of consumer goods and
services PPPPTK (VEDC) Malang practices that support student competence in
working practices machining industry. Secondly, the competence of mechanical
engineering education UM students quite well, with so many considerable
infrastructure and good. Machining work practice learning by doing the same
jobsheet appropriate curriculum and competency standards in the catalog book
FT. Third, comparison of student competence in PPPPTK PI (VEDC) is better
than the PTM UM students from the ranging infrastructure aspects, curriculum
and learning because of the responsibility for the goods which is done by students
in PPPPTK PI (VEDC) with interaction to consumers.
