1.1 Purpose (Unique value add)


Plan for and develop asset management plans for SA Waters infrastructure and support and guide their implementation to ensure agreed levels of service
are provided that optimise risk, performance and life-cycle costs.

1.2 Objectives
The objectives (maximum 6) of this role are to:
Contribute significantly to asset management planning activity as inputs to the development of asset management strategies and plans.
Develop asset management plans that incorporate operating, maintenance, asset improvement and upgrade/renewal plans.
Ensure objectives are realised from capital projects through the delivery of clear project briefs and effective project sponsorship.
Ensure business objectives are realised through establishing and maintaining effective, collaborative partnerships with all stakeholders.
Ensure analysis of internal and external operating environments, including technical and compliance requirements, strategic improvement initiatives and
impact of growth on demand and capacity, is considered in asset planning.
Support the leadership and development of the team, embedding a culture of safety, performance and continuous improvement.

Asset Management planning Review asset performance and assess outcomes against agreed targets to identify operational, maintenance and
capital improvements and optimise life-cycle costs.
Undertake root cause failure analyses, in conjunction with Asset, Operations & Delivery and identify optimal
operational, maintenance and capital solutions.
Support the development and implementation (through Asset Maintenance) of a program of Level 1 asset
condition assessments for non-linear assets.
Support the teams development and implementation of a program of Level 1 condition assessments for linear
assets (with support from Asset Maintenance) and Level 2 condition assessments for linear and non-linear
assets.
Ensure asset planning considers analysis of internal and external operating environments, including technical
requirements, strategic improvement initiatives, compliance requirements and impact of growth on demand
and capacity.
Develop and apply decision making tools and models to prioritise investments.
Support the development of and/or ensure adherence to SA Water infrastructure standards and guidelines.
Document asset management methods, processes and outcomes.

Key Accountabilities Output/Measures


Asset Management plans Contribute to the preparation of State of Asset reports.
Support the development of asset strategies.
Support the development of Asset Management plans that incorporate operating, preventative maintenance
and upgrade/renewal plans.
Develop asset program summary and major project documents.
Capital project development and sponsorship Prepare stakeholder integrated project briefs for capital projects in accordance with the CPMM and Asset
Management Briefs Manual.
Provide leadership and sponsorship in the development and delivery of all capital projects.
Ensure positive and productive working relationships with Project Managers.
As a Program Manager ensure that program investments and outcomes are effectively managed.
Relationship management Establish and maintain collaborative and effective partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure Asset
Management meets business objectives.
Promote and represent Asset Management across SA Water and externally.
Alignment and compliance Ensure capital investment program management aligns with Corporate and Asset Management requirements.
Ensure alignment with Asset Management System and strategic asset management principles.
Contribute to safety performance for contractors and employees and accurately capture all safety data.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy and standards, including safety, water quality and
environment.
Supervision Support the Manager in providing functional specialist and people leadership and development for a section of

Working relationships with WSAA Asset Management R&D
Periodic consultation with peer organisations
