Getting Started:
1. Use QuickTime (get info) to show sample rate and frame rate.
2. Next Determine Time code / Set Time code:
00.00.00.00(,0) = Hrs:Mins:Secs:Frame or Drop Frames (or just called Drop)
(if a comma is used, its drop frame - if semicolon its just frames)
4. When you use a Template, you can set all your video information from quicktime player. Ie. HZ, Frame
rate etc.
5. Project Prefs Synchronisation
6. Decide what bar begins at what time timecode position.
7. You can use the information on video timecode from QuickTime player and add it to PLAYS at SMPTE
8. Movie Settings tab can also be edited here too. Locked Video Screensets means video position on
screen doesnt move as you change between Screensets.
6. Find the distance between two markers that you would like the downbeat to drop on. When you click
on the Marker, it will create a little mark point in the beat mapping global track lane.
7. Find the beat you would like it to hit on, The cursor will snap to beat or bar. Drag from the beat you
want to land on, and draw/connect the line to the Marker Point created in the BeatMapping Lane.
8. This calculate the tempo so that the Scene Marker will land on the down beat of the bar you chose.
9. This will also reflect in the Tempo Window, and the Scene Marker.
10. Be sure to check the Scene Marker (Length and Position List) that the Marker in Bars Beats is as close to
on the beat as possible (they are divided up into 240 ticks), so you can unlock the SMPTE marker, and
Movie it directly on the beat. Ie. Marker is at 33.4.4.240 34.1.1.1 (dont be too concerned if slightly
off!!)
11. Up to two beats in Tempo variation in either direction you can get away with.
12. Start Matching the Markers to nearest beats. Be sure not to create too much variation.
13. Change the time signatures to land the beat marker points on the down beat youd like to start on. Ie.
5/4 for 1 bar, then back to 4/4
14. Be sure to create New Sets for Tempo / Time Signatures / Markers for each so they match together
when trying different variations. Ie. Create a set in each called Choice 1, and another choice 2 etc.
Use Tempo operations to change Tempo at particular bar, can be tweeked here by keeping everything
locked.
Be sure that markers are of Zero Lengths (ie. 00.00.00.00 and in bars/beats 0.0.0.1)
Create a curve so that the tempo will curve and then stop at a particular point in time / bar or beat
1. Select Create Tempo Curve
2. Unlock Bars/Beats Position, so that it will only lock to the SMPTE time..
3. Enter Target Tempo
4. You can alter density and curve.
3. You Can disable musical grid and only work in time not bar and beats this will affect the ruler, putting
smpte as bigger ruler and bars/beats as smaller.
