Create Standard Markers:

1. Global Track MARKERS and VIDEO Clips + Markers View in Right Side Box
2. Markers TAB when you press + it will create a marker at playhead position and round it up to
nearest beat. We need to change this by:
1. Change View Show Event Position and Length as Time
2. Use Key command for Create Marker without Rounding (F13)
3. REMEMBER the (+) will round the marker, always use F13 for Precision.

3. Name Markers by double/click in Marker Box or from Marker List.

4. Lock Markers to Movie
Marker List Select all Markers in List R/Click or Options Lock SMTPE Positions.

You can change between sets from Lane or Marker Editor or Duplicate or delete Sets.

Create Movie Scene Markers:

1. Logic will auto create markers for you.

2. NAVIGATE OTHER (Choose Option)

Marker Lane.

standard Markers too. (You can convert back to Scene Markers as well)
5. Scene Markers will always show Start of movie, and End of Movie with others in between.
6. If you remove the movie, the Scene Markers will go with it. Remember.
7. You can also create Scene Markers from MOVIE Lane and turn them into a SET, or ADD scene Markers to
Current Standard Markers youve created already.
8. To MOVE playhead to beginning of Markers, you can either:
a. Option/Click the Marker from the List or
b. Option/Click on the Marker in the Marker Lane
c. Move to Next / Previous Marker via Key Command and / or with locators.
9. Movies with Chapter Markers (from other programs ie. Premier etc): If a Movie has Chapter Markers,
you need to import those in. It will come up as an option in the Movie Lane Movie dropdown import
Chapter markers.
10. Remember, to keep any markers in the project once a movie has been removed, CONVERT THEM TO
STANDARD MARKERS!

Creating a Tempo Map:

1. Before altering Tempo / creating a map, be sure to have your markers locked to SMPTE.
2. Open Marker List on the side, and Drag from position to create float. (You can do this with all the panels
on right side, and inspectors on left.
3. Pull out from the Right Panel, 2xMarker Lists (one with Show Length and Position as time, the other
marker list, bars & beats), 1 Tempo List + 1 Time Signature list,
4. Be sure you can see In the Global Tracks: Movie Lane, The Marker Lane with the set of your choice, Time
Signature Lane, Tempo Lane and BEATMAPPING lane.
5. Beat Mapping Drop Lane drop menu has lots of beat mapping options.

6. Find the distance between two markers that you would like the downbeat to drop on. When you click
on the Marker, it will create a little mark point in the beat mapping global track lane.
7. Find the beat you would like it to hit on, The cursor will snap to beat or bar. Drag from the beat you
want to land on, and draw/connect the line to the Marker Point created in the BeatMapping Lane.

8. This calculate the tempo so that the Scene Marker will land on the down beat of the bar you chose.
9. This will also reflect in the Tempo Window, and the Scene Marker.
10. Be sure to check the Scene Marker (Length and Position List) that the Marker in Bars Beats is as close to
on the beat as possible (they are divided up into 240 ticks), so you can unlock the SMPTE marker, and
Movie it directly on the beat. Ie. Marker is at 33.4.4.240 34.1.1.1 (dont be too concerned if slightly
off!!)
11. Up to two beats in Tempo variation in either direction you can get away with.
12. Start Matching the Markers to nearest beats. Be sure not to create too much variation.
13. Change the time signatures to land the beat marker points on the down beat youd like to start on. Ie.
5/4 for 1 bar, then back to 4/4
14. Be sure to create New Sets for Tempo / Time Signatures / Markers for each so they match together
when trying different variations. Ie. Create a set in each called Choice 1, and another choice 2 etc.

Accelerandos & Ritardandos in Global Tempo Track/Lane:

1. In Tempo lane you can double click on the top and lower value and enter value manually to show all

tempo/previous tempo after the change.

Use Tempo operations to change Tempo at particular bar, can be tweeked here by keeping everything
locked.

Be sure that markers are of Zero Lengths (ie. 00.00.00.00 and in bars/beats 0.0.0.1)

Create a curve so that the tempo will curve and then stop at a particular point in time / bar or beat
1. Select Create Tempo Curve
2. Unlock Bars/Beats Position, so that it will only lock to the SMPTE time..
3. Enter Target Tempo
4. You can alter density and curve.

Beat Mapping to a live Performance:

3. After recording, you will see the midi appear in the Beatmapping lane.
4. Bridge the Bars to the notes/Pulse to create a tempo map.

10 minute 20 minute 30 minute 40 minute 50 minute
