Third Speaker

Good afternoon Mr. / Madam Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen. The topic for our
debate is The Advantage of Using English in Daily Life. We as the opposition team believe that
the statement is false.

The first affirmative speaker has tried to tell you ______. This is wrong because
_______. The second affirmative speaker has tried to tell you ______. This is wrong because
_______. The third affirmative has tried to tell you _______. This is wrong because _______.

My point is people still needs a dictionary or spell checker eventhough they can speak
English better. The reasoning for this is there are many types of English in this world such as UK
English, US English and many more. An example of this would be when people talk with a
foreigner, misunderstanding can happen if they speak different English.

My second point is these characteristics slow up comprehension as so often something

has to be reread to be understood (Double entendres such as "British left waffles over the
Falklands" may appeal to an idiot's sense of "humour", but they would never be possible in any
properly organized and disciplined language.

Our first speaker spoke to you about the English language is that people think they can
speak English and yet they dont. She also said that a lot of misunderstanding happen when two
non-English person converse with each other in English, each person has a different conception
of what was said. Our second speaker spoke to you that English has many words with same
spelling but different meaning. She also stated that the reason we speak English when Bahasa
Malaysia is our main language.

So Mr. / Madam Chairman , Ladies and Gentlemen, in conclusion we as the opposition

team strongly disagree with the motion. As the opposition team side, we have told you that
English language is that people think they can speak English and yet they dont, English has
many words with same spelling but different meaning, the reason we speak English when
Bahasa Malaysia is our main language, people still needs a dictionary or spell checker
eventhough they can speak English better and these characteristics slow up comprehension as
so often something has to be reread to be understood. Based on the discussion above and also
if you see the data that was taken from an authentic source, the implementation of English
more negative impact than a positive effect. This can be seen by study and also the declining
student achievement. Once again, we as the opposition team strongly disagree with the
motion. Thank you .
