4. Write a report on your findings.

a. What happened to the Indian student numbers?

Indian students were the second biggest international student population in Australia. In 2005 there
were about 30,000 Indian students living in Australia, that number almost tripled in 3 years, reaching
an approximated 97,000 Indian students in 2009. Witch was the time that the violence against
Indians and specially Indians students intensify. Most occurrences happen in the Melbourne and
Perth area. Following that assaults and attacks there were two protests. Five hundred Indian taxi
drivers led the first one. this taxi drivers were protesting an assault on a fellow Indian taxi driver. The
second protest happened also in Melbourne where four thousand Indian students gathered to
protest the violence against them , the prejudice and to advocate for a more multicultural police
force. During that time the number of Indian students dropped dramatically. Down to 25% of what it
was four years before. Since them the Indian student population has made a come back , slowly and
steady the numbers of Indian students in increasing again and the conflicts between Indian and
Australian have stoped and a more peaceful environment prevails.

b. Why are some countries having more or less students than others?
There are many different reasons for why some countries have more international students
than others. First one is the currency exchange. If a student is coming to Australia from the
UK where the British pound is used would have a bigger advantage over someone from india
where its currency is not as valuable. In the same mind set, its cheaper to study in Canada
than it is to study in Australia, and its cheaper to study in Canada or Australia than to study
in the UK. There are also the student requirements. Some countries make it extremely hard
to study there. And after all the bank, health, academic requirements are fulfilled a student
still has to pay more for the regular tuition just for the fact that he or she is not a national
from that country. Even though the requirements are difficult and the cost high, the number
of international students only increases.

Task 2

1. Central tendency is a central or typical value for a probability distribution, like on

a set of numbers, the number that appears the most is the mode
2. With dispersion we can evaluate two or more sets of data. Giving us measures
such as the range or quartiles.
3. Sampling can be define as the process of who where and when is one going to
collect the data from
4. A PEST analysis is a useful tool to visualize the political economical social and
technological factors that influence that country or group of people
5. Cultural aspects are the difference in cultures, like in north Korea , a citizen is
not free to come and go, witch influences the tourism in that area in a negative
way. Different religions and languages can act as barriers for international
markets. Like the difference in red meat consumption between Brazil and India.
Witch is manly a Hindu country that considers cows to be a holy animal.
6. Quantitative can be measure, usually something tangible. How many Kilometers
does a full license Australian men drives each year?
7. Qualitative data can not be measured. it can be describe. What is life like for a
Indian international student in Melbourne?
8. Best practice is a method or technique that has been generally accepted as
superior to any alternatives because it produces results that are superior to
those achieved by other.
9. Benchmarking is comparing one company to the industries best situated
companies, usually measured in quality time and cost. So one can compare
companies and see what part of the market they belong and what do they have
to do to succeed
10. A good example of Strategic alliance would be Damien Chrysler , where different
car manufactures join together to create the car companies conglomerate that
allows them to take a bigger part of the market and increase sales at the same
time lowering their manufacturing and logistics cost
