Activities:
1. Teacher introduces pupils to a jazz chant (TB page:67). Pupils
listen to teachers reading.

4. Teacher introduces two simple sentences on how to thank
someone and express a simple apology.
5. Pupils repeat and act out the sentences with correct stress
and intonation.
6. Teacher shows a slide presentation regarding the language
functions. Pupils respond to it.
7. Teacher calls out a few pupils to act out situation.
8. Pupils complete a worksheet with guidance.(worksheet 1)
9. Read the jazz chant again.

pronunciation.
Activities:
1. Teacher reads a story on Bens Red Bug (TB pg:66). Pupils
listen.
2. Pupils read the story after the teacher. Teacher let the pupils
make mistakes as correction will be made later.
3. Teacher draws out a few words from the story that emphasis
on letter sound of /h/, /r/ and /b/
4. Play a sound station game (Refer to TB pg:65)
5. Pupils blend two to four phonemes and read the words aloud
6. Follow by segmenting the words with teachers guidance.
7. Teacher provides worksheets and ask the pupils to listen
while the teacher reads a list of words (worksheet 2)
8. Pupils circle the correct words when they hear the teacher
9. Teacher repeats the words where necessary
10. Read the Bens Red Bug again and correct the pupils
mistakes

asking pupils to spell and pronounce certain words.

2. Appoint a few appropriate gestures according to the jazz
chant
3. Perform the jazz chant in groups creatively

Activities:
1. Teacher recalls the jazz chant from previous lesson (TB
pg:63)
2. Pupils learn to recite the jazz chant after the teacher.
3. Teacherguides the pupils to read and create appropriate
gestures based on the sentences read.
4. Pupils read the jazz chant with action
5. Teacher introduces a few substitution sentences written on
board for the jazz chant.
6. Pupils read the new sentences and identify the suitable
gestures.
7. Teacher divides pupils into groups each group is assigned
with an action from the song.
8. Each group takes turn to recite the jazz chant with action.

jazz chant
