Field Notes Drawing Work Process

1. Scope

Field Note DWGs will be created based on the Prelim Design in NexusWorx.
Export required features (both linear & Point features) from Nexusworx in shape file format.

Required features: Need to export below features from Nexus.

1. Parcels
2. Conduit
3. Conduit Access point
4. Strand
5. Poles
6. Address
7. LCP Cabinet
8. Riser

2. Export Data from NexusWorx

Select LCP boundary which you want to export and execute Spatial query to export required
layers by selecting all features. See the below steps to export LCP data.
Step 1: Open Spatial query
Step 2: Select features and next query area.
Step 3: Execute and pick Select All in result window
Step 4: Go to File menu and then select Feature Export
Step 5: In Feature export window, select and change highlighted fields/check points as
required.

Step 6: Complete Step 1 to Step 5for all required features in same procedure.

3. Convert Data to Drawing File & Insert Blocks for Point Features

For further clean-up and to prepare construction drawings, we need to convert the shape files into
AutoCAD format. . See the below steps to convert the shape files to AutoCAD drawing.

Step 1: Open AutoCAD application.

Step 2: Type command MAPIMPORT then select path where the saved shape files.
Step 3: Import all linear features (Fiber Cable, Conduit, Parcels, Utilities etc.,) with Data
(Required attributes) as shown in below exhibits.

Step 3: And then again import all point features (with the help of MAPIMPORT
command) with Data & Blocks (Required attributes) as shown below. Before to this, we
need to insert all point features Blocks into drawing from \\Svr-
file2\GoogleFiber\!Internal\CDrawings Cells\Autocad_Blocks . So that we can select the
symbols at below highlighted location in below exhibit.

4. Settings

For further cleanup and to prepare field note drawings need to convert exported shape file into
AutoCAD format with required attributes.

1. For linear & polygon features we need to perform below settings.

Conduit duct bank should have following settings.

Line weight--.5mm
Color-- 0

2. Aerial strand should have following settings

Line weight--.5mm

3. Parcels should have following settings

Line weight--.25mm
Color-- 254

5. Create Land base layers for buried areas

We should create layers manually for BOC& Sidewalk and draw them in AutoCAD by
referring Google earth.

6. Grid Preparation for Layouts

Create grids with 1=20 scale and need to assign grid number for each section.

Grid layout should cover cul-de-sac location and street intersection.

After completion grid sections for entire area need to check for any
overlap of point features with grid section and avoid those overlaps.

7. Add Label

Place annotation for land base layers (i.e. Sidewalk, BOC, Right of way) manually for every
grid.
Each grid should have only one single Row, BOC, and SW name

Populate annotation for point & Line features using tool (Tool
developed by Csy). This tool will place annotation directly on feature,
need to perform white space management manually.

If conduit is passing in multiple grids, then annotate conduit for each

grid

4. Need to place street name for every grid. Since these street names are not
exported from Nexus, we need to place them manually.

5. Need to place circle for unused poles (ex :streetlight poles, transmission
polewhich are identified by referring Google earth)

6. Layout creation in AutoCAD-Create sheet for each grid section from model.

7. Update Sheet reference number and title block information for every sheet.

8. Generate PDF for entire drawing (which includes all the sheets.
9. DeliverableDrawing & PDF.
