Abstract Summarizing

The Title of this research is Quantitative Method for Analyzing Engineering Defect Risks

in Novel Projects (John Chachere 2009, Stanford University). we choose this Quantitative

Research for our Critique Paper because its related in our Strand, which is Industrial Arts.

Industrial Arts is also connected to the engineering society. There are a lot of types of

engineering that covered Industrial Arts, these are the examples: electrical engineering,

mechanical engineering and also the popular is industrial engineering et al.

Novel projects, such as those producing manned space missions, new cancer drugs,

and unique civil facilities, require difficult decisions that tradeoff the costs of development

reliability against the risks of operations failure. Yet, no social science or engineering method is

both precise and holistic enough to estimate quantitatively the risks of engineering defects for

specific projects where product, organization, process, and context strongly interact. To address

this gap, the thesis provides a model of engineering defects as a source of critical dependencies

between novel projects upstream development and downstream operations stages. The thesis

method elicits quantitative judgments from project experts regarding different engineering

defects causes during knowledge-based development and those defects consequences during

physical operations. With those data, the thesis models development-stage shortcomings as a

function of failures to complete necessary rework, interprets those shortcomings to assess

distributions of engineering defect severities, and estimates those defects potential to reduce the

developed products capacities during operations.

The Problem

This study will provide an in-depth description and understanding of Quantitative

Method for Analyzing Engineering Defect Risks in Novel Projects Novel projects often develop

defective products that unexpectedly contribute to the partial or even total failure of operations.

This thesis answers the questions about the Engineering Defects Contributed to Several

Unexpected, Catastrophic Oil Platform Failure.

Review of Literature

The related literature which support and give credence to the details of this research.

The researcher anchored this comprehensive study to different viewpoints and perspectives to

present a thorough treatment of the problem. Concepts, findings, theories, and notions, from

scholarly researches and articles related to Engineering or else Engineering defects created

during a development stage can cause failure during an operations stage presented to provide an

extensive background of the study and to justify the researchers objective in undertaking it.

Design and Procedure

For the purpose of describing the meaning of Engineering Defect Risks in Novel

Projects experiences of a concept or phenomenon, the researchers will employ phenomenological

research design which focuses on identifying and analyzing what all the participants have in

common as they experience in The rates of failures in different parts of the electrical system

compose the project utility, which Decision Analysis (DA) uses to compare different alternatives

merits. This is to be done by reducing individual experiences with a phenomenon to a

description of the engineering. interpretations of the researcher and more on a description of the

experiences of the participants.

Conclusions and Implications

The point of this research is to share knowledge about engineering society. And to discuss

the experiences of participants in their risk and failures due to poor performance.

And how important it is to have proper work and knowledge of engineering advantages and

disadvantages

Overall Assessment

Here's what we did with quantitative research, you can find a good

process and a source of learning. And how the wrong things can be corrected

or fixed. And what we learned here is how important it is to know the

mistakes and accept and correct them again. And to have a good job

satisfaction.
