Dear Residents,
Recently I was brought into a
situation by a club president who
was trying to eject two residents
from a meeting for not following the
club/group rule of signing in. With
limited information, as I was off
property, I asked the two residents
to leave the meeting, getting their
side of the story after the fact. How
this played out has nagged me to
the point that I thought additional
clarification, along with a warning to
all groups and clubs, was necessary.
For a club/group to operate
successfully, rules are essential.
Having said that, the rules MUST be
applied evenly across the spectrum
of residents attending the meeting
or event. No one is to be singled out
in a discriminatory manner. While
this group had the right to ask the
residents attending to sign in at the
door, I ask myself if the situation
could have been handled better and
the answer is YES.
The residents that were being
ousted made the claim that they
had attended prior meetings
without having to sign in. This
was confirmed to be true by the
president. What would have been
the right way to handle this? The
president should have announced
that all persons must sign in before
singling out the two residents. Then
the list of signatures should have
been matched up to the attendees,
and any residents that had not
signed in should have done so. This
did not happen. The singling out
of those two residents was strictly
political and will not be allowed
going forward. The President has
been put on notice, as are all clubs/

TABLE TALK
BY IRV RIKON
When I was still a kid, children were told there are three
subjects one should not talk about in polite society: sex,
religion, and politics.
Sex? Parents might have spoken about the birds and the
bees. Those winged creatures laughed, the birds chirping,
"Human beings are so dumb! None of them asked how
we FLY." The bees buzzed, "How y' doin', Honey? Sex?
I don't have to teach MY kids sex! They know already!"
But times change. Today people don't just talk about sex.
They flaunt it.
Religion? Folks now prattle on about Islam, even if they
know nothing about it. Some persons are not prejudiced.
They hate everyone equally.
Politics? Forget Republicans. Forget Democrats.
Conservatives? Liberals? No! No! No! Nowadays
everyone has a Trump card and is playing it! With regard
to the President, my family is so divided about him, a feud
has started, so no one in our home is speaking to anyone
about anything.
