RRESULTS OF QUESTION 1
28,000 is the maximum number of cars that can travel from the stadium to
the interstate per hour. The figure is different from the 33,000 cars that Dr.
Lee suggested because he only took into account the number of cars
coming out of the stadium (node 1). Although the three roads directly from
the stadium (branches 1-2, 1-3 and 1-4) support a total of 33,000 cars, the
remaining roads where these branches lead to cannot accommodate the
same capacity. For example, 15,000 cars can travel from node 1 to node 2
but only 12,000 cars can traverse from node 2 to node 5 leaving 3,000 cars
stuck.
QUESTION 2 PART B.1
And the another way is sum of all flows That arrive at the destination (interstate highway)
6) Constraints
Capacity constraints
Flow conservation constraints
In order to increase total capacity to 33,000, road 2-5 can be expanded in order to
accommodate all 15,000 cars who travelled from 1-2. At the same time, road 5-8 can also be
expanded to accommodate the cars from road 2-5 (BECUASE NOW THE ROAD 1-2 HAVE 15,000
capacity after expansion) and road 3-5 (HAVE 8,000 capacity). Expanding road 2-5 to
accommodate a total of 15,000 cars and expanding road 5-8 to accommodate a total of 23,000
cars will increase the maximum capacity of the system to 33,000
