DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1405176 - Cumulative Changelog:

(based on DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1209)
- use with DP_Chipset_wnt5-32_1405111 minimum (if applicable)

For any DriverPack-MassStorage NT5-related issue:

- start new Topic @ http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewforum.php?id=12

Known Issues:
- Windows 2000 SP4 Extended Support by MS ended July 2010 (network connection ill-
advised)
- Windows XP SP2 Extended Support by MS ended July 2011 (network connection ill-
advised)
- Windows XP SP3 (incl. TabletPC & MCE - except Embedded) Extended Support by MS
ended April 2014 (network connection ill-advised except via Virtual environment)
see: http://support.microsoft.com/ph/1173
OEM's may offer other support
Small Business (except for Embedded) see:
http://smallbusiness.support.microsoft.com/en-us
- Windows 2003 R2/SP2 Extended Support by Microsoft generally ends July 14, 2015
see: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?

- NT5-64bit drivers might be included by necessity, but are not supported by

DriverPacks
- "Before installing OS"...", you must remove the drives connected to other
controllers from your system
temporarily. After OS installation complete, you can put them back." (Quoted
from HighPoint)
- note that other partitions may be removed by NT5 - including Disk Management (be
data-safe!!!)
add Autopartition=0 to [Data] section & Repartition=No + ExtendOemPartition=No
to [Unattended] section
of winnt.sif to limit this behaviour somewhat (during textmode partitioning
only)
- "Windows XP does not support GPT"
"Windows systems with Legacy BIOS and MBR boot drives are limited to 2.2TB
partitions"
"Windows XP sees a 3TB drive as 800GB on boot or data drives"
"Intel RST device drivers before v10.1 do not support 3TB disk drives"
From the drive or mobo OEM, you can ... "install a device driver which opens
the full capacity of a 3TB.
You can use it to create a second partition for the capacity above 2.2TB"
quoted from Seagate: http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/218619en
also, for uEFI, NT5 & GPT info, see:
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=6285
also see included Advanced_Format_Drive_notes.txt
- eSATA & other removable drives - confirm write caching disabled (in disk drives
section of Device Manager)
- Intel USB 3.0 is not supported on NT5, set BIOS to USB 2.0 Legacy mode for NT5
if possible
- iSCSI, Infiniband, & many other non-standard storage (LSI, QLogic, etc.) require
Storport Update (w2k3)
thanks to JakeLD (http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?
pid=30442#p30442)
SP1 see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943545
SP2 see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957910
Slipstream Command Example: WindowsServer2003-KB957910-x86-ENU.exe
/overwriteoem /integrate:C:\w2k3
- W2k has inbuilt power inefficiencies that risk overheating hardware
avoid W2k installation especially on any portable or laptop
- AMD SB7xx and later AHCI/RAID are not officially supported on Win2k
- Intel ICH9R and later AHCI/RAID controllers not officially supported on Win2k
- USB 3.0 Hub drivers may generally be incompatible with Win2k
controller may have a Yellow Bang! & not load drivers (Code 31)

Certificate Issues - XP-SP3 (before any updates):

- I\ drivers from 2013 and newer require "Microsoft Root Certificate Authority" CA
(not incl. in W2k)
- V\VIDEX32.SYS, xfilt.sys
VIATechnologiesInc. - certificate has expired or is not yet valid
Certificate Issues - XP-SP3 (post-updates):

To use PCIIDE instead of IntelIDE, delete all drivers in I\ folder only
except DH89xxCC-ME, ibexideS & ich78ide and expand archive
Current default uses pciIDE for ich7/8 to prevent intelIDE
incompatibilities with some dell products
