3. UST Pro Installation & Activation

3.1. UST Pro Dongle Drivers Installation
UST protection scheme is based on dongle. Dongle is a small device connected to the USB port
of your computer. It contains needed security information to run UST and it must be kept connected to
the USB port of your computer during all time UST is running.

3.1.1. Where to get drivers?

All updated dongle drivers are at these links:
Win9x/ME: http://www.ust-online.com/prof/Driver98Me.exe
Win2k/XP: http://www.ust-online.com/prof/Driver2kXP.exe
You may download them from here if they were absent on CD came with UST. You need to be
registered UST customer to download these drivers, so please ask you reseller for login and password for
UST support area, if you have no them.

3.1.2. At first:
- Download the driver according to the OS you are running and save it anywhere to your hard
disk
- Do not plug dongle in! If you did so, unplug the dongle and reboot

3.1.3. Windows 9x/ME instructions:

- Run Driver98Me.exe you just downloaded or run it from CD came with UST.
- Press Next buttons in installer until you reach Finish screen.
- During the installation some UST components will ask for reboot. Don't reboot until the
installation will finish!
- At the end of the installation press Finish in the installer window. Reboot your computer.
Windows will find some hardware. It will ask you for some files location. Point it to c:\program
files\UST Pro\Dongle Drivers for Win9x. If you changed default path of UST Pro drivers
installation, then use path you entered.
- After Windows will finish new devices installation you may plug dongle in. Windows will find
some more devices and ask for path again. Point it to the same path again.
- If all ok - you may now run UST (see below UST Activation).

After successful dongle drivers installation you should have three devices listed in My Computer
Properties->Devices like shown on screenshot (it is taken from Windows XP, but all the devices are the
same on both OSes.

If there are fewer devices - something went wrong. If so:

- Delete all devices corresponding to the dongle (they are shown with arrows on the above image)
by right-clicking them and selecting Delete.
- Uninstall UST Dongle Drivers from Control Panel->Add/Remove Software.
- Reboot your PC
- Repeat the above steps again.
- If you still get something wrong again and can't run UST - see 3.1.5 (If nothing helps...)

3.1.4. Windows 2k/XP instructions:

WARNING! You have NT Administrator rights to install dongle drivers on Windows 2000
or XP!
4

- Run Driver2kXP.exe you just downloaded or run it from CD came with UST.
- Press Next buttons in installer.
- At the end of the installation press Finish in the installer window. Windows will find some
hardware. It will ask you for some files location. Point it to c:\program files\UST Pro\Dongle
Drivers for Win2k-XP if you changed default path of UST Pro drivers installation, then use path
you entered
- After Windows will finish all new devices installation you may plug dongle in. Windows will
find some more devices and ask for path again. Point it to the same path again.
- If all ok - you may now run UST (see below UST Activation)

After successful dongle drivers installation you should have three devices listed in My Computer
Properties->Devices like shown on the screenshot (it is taken from Windows XP, but all the devices are
the same on both OSes.

- Repeat the above steps again to install the drivers
- If you still get something wrong again and can't run UST see 3.1.5 (If nothing helps)

3.1.5. If nothing helps...

If you tried all ways and nothing helps do the following:
- Send file c:\program files\UST Pro\install.log to us (support1@gsmhacking.com). It contains
installation log and will probably help us to find out the reason.
- If you got some error message take a screen shot of it and send this graphic to us
(support1@gsmhacking.com). You may do by making this window active and then press Alt-
PrtScr (Print Screen Button). Then you may paste it to some graphics editor like Windows Paint
or Adobe Photoshop, save there and send to us. If you can't make screenshot, then please write
us e-mail with exact contents of error message including error message window title and button
texts.
- Provide us exact and full information on your problem.

3.1.6. Manual driver installation

If you are qualified enough, you might want to install UST Dongle Drivers manually. For this
operation refer to page http://www.reflexreaders.com/Support/Downloads/downloads.html Remember,
that for installing drivers on Win9x you need to install Smart Cards Base Components from
SCBASE.exe and SMCLIB.exe. These files are not necessary on Win2000/XP platforms.
You may post your question in Dongle (Smartcard) subforum of http://www.vsh-gsm.com/forum.
But please, provide us as much information as you can on problem you encounter to help us help you.

FORGET TO COPY UST PRO EXECUTABLE TO YOUR HARD DRIVER BEFORE TRYING TO
RUN IT! Put it to any directory you want. So, run it! It will tell you BAD ACTIVATION STATUS.
Don't worry, it's ok. Just send file req.bin from the directory you run UST from to
support1@gsmhacking.com. You will get act.bin file in some time. Place it to UST directory. Now you
can use UST! Enjoy!
By the way, act.bin is very sensitive to configuration changes, so, if you are going to use UST on

7. FAQ
Q: I have heard, that UST is cracked. Is it true?
A: There were some hack attempts on UST (not UST Pro!) in the past. As we know, there were
no successful crack attempts. All cracked UST versions are half-cracked. Sometimes they kill phones,
especially new models. But, nevertheless, for our customers convenience we released UST Pro with
extremely strong protection based on smartcard. This protection is almost impossible to be cracked.

Q: UST says Operation completed successfully even if no phone connected

A: In certain operations UST doesnt check phone answer. So, if you connect right cable and
perform the operation everything will be all right.

Q: What is Repair API function?

A: T200 & T300 series have API Module inside. This is something like EEPROM, but its not
EEPROM. And when you upload new firmware to phone, or may be simply suddenly your phone's API
is damaged and phone will:
o Reset automatically o No Signal
o Send/receive SMS Error o Freeze (hang)
o No ring tones o Bad contrast
o Not powering on/bad o Menu problems
powering on o And so on...
your phone's API should be repaired!
The same thing happens for C100!!! And you can repair API on C100 by "Repair SW
Faults" function.
12
Q: I have SGH-2xxx and after unlocking it with UST it is still locked.
A: These phones have special SP-zone structure. Sometimes it is needed to unlock them,
for 5-7 times to complete the operation. Try to repeat the operation 5-7 times. Then check the
result. Now this problem is related only be old UST versions. Current UST version unlocks
SGH-2xxx from the first try.

Q: My V2xx shows message Remove IRDA or data cable when trying to use
camera. Can this be corrected by UST?
A: The problem is hardware damage by some reason (wrong unlock or unlock with
cracked UST). Currently it cant be solved by any software. Only by replacing certain IC.
Please refer here to read more on this topic: http://www.vsh-gsm.com/forum/viewtopic.php?
t=112. You need to register on the forum first! To do this just press Register button on the top of
main forum page.

Q: I have UST, not UST Pro and I need some flash files, which I cant find in UST
support area. Where can I get them and when will they be released.
A: Unfortunately, because of some unsuccessful UST hack attempts, there are many half-
cracked UST versions on the internet which are sold by the cheaters. These version suddenly kill
phones, so to prevent cheaters from making money on selling not-working half-cracked UST, we
decided to change UST protection scheme to smartcard. And we stopped support of earlier
versions of UST. Now all updates will be released only for UST Pro. We hope you will
understand us and excuse any inconvenience You may upgrade your UST to UST Pro only for
50$! For this you should contact your dealer, that sold you UST.

Q: I have A3xx/A4xx and my flasher shows Flash sector locked, UST Pro hangs
on Uploading bootloader, or the phone powers on, shows something about Caller and
powers off.
A: You should unlock Flash sector of your phone with UST Pro 2.3 or higher and after
this operation phone will accept any A3xx/A4xx flash in a normal way. Dont forget after
flashing make custom E2P reset by pressing *2767*2878# without SIM card. This will prevent
phone freezing with SIM card.

Q: I cant run UST Pro! When I click UST Pro icon it doesnt sho any info at all!
A: Seem, that you have some Antivirus AutoProtection On. Antivirus is now in memory
and checking files, you open or run. UST protection recognizes this like hack attempt and
doesnt start. Please turn your Antivirus AutoProtection Off or unload it from memory.

3. Do not spam the board. Do not post the same message under two or more subforums
simultaneously.
4. Asking a question, provide as much information as possible.
5. When posting a topic, be sure you are posting under valid subforum. Otherwise your
topic may be moved or deleted.
6. Do not post topics which consist of uppercase symbols only! Such topics may be deleted
by the moderator!

10.3. How to get help?

The main way to get help on your UST problem is to post your question on UST support
forum at www.vsh-gsm.com/forum. But before this you have to register at the forum as its user.
To do this you may follow this link www.vsh-gsm.com/forum/register.php?s=&action=signup or
click Register button at the top of forum. After registration you will get your own user login and
password to access forum as registered user.
REMEMBER! Before posting any question on forum, search for an answer using search
button. May be this question is already discussed. See below section How to search.
If you see some sticky topics (always on the top of forum) you have to read them,
because they contain important information.

10.3.1. How to speed up getting help?

When asking any question on a forum every time provides such information: UST
version, basic computer configuration (Processor and memory), Windows version, and version
of flash file you used if any. Try to provide as much necessary information as you can, including
the steps you tried and that didnt help. This information will be asked from you in any case, so,
providing it, you will speed up getting answer.
The usefulness of the information you will get from forum will depend on how much
details have you provided to forum members. They must know the situation to help you.
REMEMBER! If the question you ask is already discussed on the forum, you should
provide the link on this already discussed question and results of how you tried that solution.
Otherwise, forum members may not answer you or your post may be deleted by moderators as
spam. So, before asking something use search button to find an answer.
WARNING! Never publish your UST support area passwords on the forum or
somewhere else, excluding emails to support service (support1@gsmhacking.com only!).

10.3.2. How to ask questions
I have some my own recommendations on how you must ask questions on UST forum or
on another forum like GSM City forum for them to be asked quickly.
1. Every topic has a title shown to all members browsing corresponding forum. So,
dont entitle your question like Error, or Big problem, or some meaningless words
like these.
2. Dont include in topic title such words as Help me, or Save me. This will not
speed up your solution.
3. Topic title must contain brief problem description, because in this case people, who
already had such a problem and solved it, will answer you quickly.
4. If the problem you are trying to solve is phone model dependent, you may include
phone model in title.
5. If you want only to share your problem solution with others on the forum, start topic
title with [Solved] with problem description following. This will help members to
find your solution. In this case dont include words as Solution afterwards in topic
title.
6. If you post instructions on how to do many things in a single post, start the title with
[HowTo].
7. If you ask users for soft or flash file start topic with [Wanted]. And provide flash file
or software name and version you need.
8. As not all members of any forum know English excellent, dont use any
abbreviations like BTW, IMHO, RTFM etc. Use normal English language with
correct grammar. Only in this case your posts will be clear. Use paragraphs to make
your thoughts more clear. Use different fonts/styles only if needed. Do not post the
whole topic in alternative font/color. It will not speed up the process and users will
not be satisfied with this.

Some examples (they are not took from life, only a fairy tale :)
UST shows error xxxxxx while flashing
[Solved] Samsung xxxx shows Limited Service after flashing with xx.xx and
FactoryReset made.
[HowTo] Safe flashing xxxx and yyyy
[Wanted] T200 flash with Simplified Chinese language

10.3.3. How to search on forums

At first let me explain how the search process is functioning. Forum can search only for
words, you enter in search field and it cant find any other post, which doesnt contain the words
you specified, even if they are about these terms. So, when you search for something dont use
phrases like how to unlock xxxx or why the error yyy appear. Remember, that the computer
is only a computer and not the human. Instead use key words like unlock xxx and simply yyy
in the second case.
Now, some advices:
1. If you have too many results on some search, try to use words, specific to the term,
you are searching for. For example, if you are searching for topic about Contact
Service on phones using phrase Limited Service and get too many results, try to
specify additionally phone model, you are now having problem with: T200 Limited
Service.
2. If you are looking for posts about some error message, try to specify only message in
search term.

3. If you search only in one category, select appropriate subforum in dropdown list on
search page. For example, if you search information about working on T200 with
UST, there is no need to search on whole forum. It will be enough only to search
Main UST Area section.

10.4. You need something more?

You want something more, than already implemented in UST? Please help us to make
our product better! On our forum you will find subforum called Feature requests. Please post
features you wish to be implemented in UST there.
