It is always good to have a plan to reach your savings goal. Whether you
are growing your savings or want to save to buy something special, you should
include these tips in your plan.
Prepare a monthly budget. This will help you determine how much you
need to put aside to increase your savings or to reach your goal.
Keep a spending diary. Write down all the items you spend on. The diary will help you
keep track of your spending. At the end of the week, check your diary to see where your money
went. Did you spend on needs or wants?
Learn to spend less. Only spend your money on things you need. Instead of buying your
lunch, take home-cooked food to school.
Always save before you spend. Each week, put aside money into a savings account.
Then use the remaining money for your expenses. A good way to make sure that you are not
tempted to use your savings is to have two separate accounts, for savings and daily expenses.
Lastly, learn to spend wisely. Think about what you want to buy before you buy it. Share
the cost with your siblings or friends for something that costs a pretty penny.
