- 2.7.1 SCOPE

2. 7. 1. 1 The sl iclc.line AllP 'a have been developed by the

Auxiliary Services Subcommittee, with .the intention of
providing guidelines for slickline operations on critical
sour wells. Key issues related to equipment requirements,
rigging in procedures, pressure testing, equipment servicing
and reporting are specifically addressed. An appendix has
been included to provide technical information related to
mechanical properties and strengths and operational
considerations associated with the equipment.

2. 7 .1. 2 This AllP is part of a series. For the overall

intent of, and as a general reference to the whole series,
please refer to AllP 2.0. The recommendations contained in
this AllP provide operators with industry endorsed advice, and
are intended to be applied in association with all existing
EB.CB regulations as well as the other AllPs. While stri et
legal enforcement of good practices is not desired or
possible, the BPWSC believes that such practicea place
considerable onus on the legally responsible party to comply
or otherwise provide a technically equivalent or better
solution.

2. 7 .1. 3 llhile' the recomaendatione aet out in this AllP are

meant to allow flexibility, the need for exercising competent
technical judgement is a neceasary requireaent to be employed
concurrently with its use. While every effort has been made
to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data contained
in the AkP and to avoid error and oaissions, the BPllSC, its
subcommittees, and individual members make no representation,
warranty or guarantee in connection with the publication or
tbe contente of any ARP recommendation, and hereby diaclaia
liability or responsibility for loas or damage reaulting from
the use of this ARP, or for any violation of any statutory or
regulatory requirement with which an ARP recommendation aay
conflict.

2.1.1.4 In cases of inconsistency or conflict between any of

the recommended practices co~tained in this AllP and
applicable legialative requirements, the legislative
requirements shall prevail.

SITHP Shut in tubing head pressure. On

wells where the maximum potential SITHP
is not well established through past
operations, it is recoamended that the
SlTHP be calculated from the bottom hole
pressure using a dry gas gradient. Refer
to Appendix VI of ARP 2.1 for calculation

with an elastomeric seal and acme threads
are acceptable for connections above the

On wells where there is significant

potential for hydrates to form during the
wireline operations, consideration should
be made to install a second remotely
operated BOP between the lubricator and
the hydraulic stuffing box.
