Effective September 1, 2014, STAR + PLUS Program to

Effective September 1, 2014, the Medicaid STAR+PLUS program will expand statewide.
Managed care organizations (MCOs) will begin providing acute care services and long
term care services and support to eligible Medicaid clients through the STAR+PLUS
program in the following Medicaid Rural Service Areas:
Medicaid Rural Service Areas West: Amerigroup, Superior HealthPlan
Medicaid Rural Service Areas Central: Superior HealthPlan, UnitedHealthcare
Community Plan
Medicaid Rural Service Areas Northeast: Cigna-HealthSpring, UnitedHealthcare
Community Plan

Medicaid Rural Service Areas West includes the following counties:

Also effective September 1, 2014, authorized users will have the ability to search for
providers contracted with the STAR+PLUS MCOs via the TMHP Online Provider Lookup
(OPL), and will be able to perform eligibility verifications for clients who are enrolled with
a STAR+PLUS MCO.
TMHP will use existing claims processing guidelines to process claims for services
rendered to STAR+PLUS clients in the Medicaid Rural Service Areas.
