According to the text, the integration of humans sensory experience generate a more
authentic user experience within a space. Our body and movement are always in a
constant interaction with the environment whereby the five senses enhance our
perception of space. Among all the senses, vision and sense of touch is predominant as
they define the interface between the opaque interiority of the body and the exteriority of
the world. From the statement visual apprehension of materiality, distance and spatial
depth would not be possible at all without the cooperation of the haptic memory, I
partially agree with it. Yes that these two senses could work together and merge into
one coherent, but I disagree that vision is dependent on sense of touch. For instance,
the materiality, depth and volume of Chichu Art Museum by Tadao Ando is preconceived
through vision as it expressed with the use of light and shadow. It evokes ones
emotions which using light as a guide in transition of space. Hence, it is arguable
statement on it as vision and sense of touch maybe be independent or dependent based
on different situation. In the section Multi-Sensory Experience, Juhani stated a work of
art must be life-enhancing which ignites our imagination and articulating our sensory
thought. It is a concept that how we are able to feel the ambience through the
combination of multiple sensory realm that further stimulate our imagination and
exaggerated the experience of it. Hence, the experience may be varies from different
people as imagination and emotions are very subjective, it could be interpreted
differently based on our own body memory and dream. In my opinion, the changes in
body perception is directly influence our conscious experience and cognitive capacities.
It eventually leads to explore different ways of architecture that could build a stronger
bond between humans inner soul with the outside world.
